Carnicero Loco — Restaurant in Altea

Sorry about the long review and before anyone reads I did say to the lady before we left and as kindly as I could because I didn’t want to offend but no one was interested in what I had to say all. Just a shocked look on their faces. So I’m doing this review because had someone took notice last night it would have made all the difference.

Carnicero Loco is a place we would usually go to when we want to enjoy what is usually a guaranteed amazing meal and atmosphere. So we choose here for our sons 17th birthday but it definitely wasn’t special at all. When we arrived the table we booked for 7pm on the roof terrace wasn’t set up and needed wiped down (my husband used a tissue he had in his pocket and did so) We had starters mains and my son had dessert followed by coffees The best part of the whole meal was the starters The entrecôte steaks which are usually brought out on a skillet with the flame were not (the waiter heard me say ah there’s no flame and his response was it’s too windy and he didn’t want to get burnt!!! really I would have killed for a breeze last night as the heat was so intense there was no wind there definitely wasn’t ) the steaks were just about warm enough to eat of the plate and were so fatty that over half of the steak was not eaten the chips tasted like fish and the garnish like flowers. We didn’t receive the 2 portion of mushrooms until we finished the meal just no words they were put just on the table and like fools we accepted (they should have been sent back) it was obvious they had been forgot about we they were red hot The three coffees were like dishwater and the strawberries and cream was such a bad example of a dessert I just have no words. As we finished they began to set all the tables with cutlery obviously for bookings coming so I wonder why our table couldn’t be set up in advance (it normally would be) Overall a very unwelcoming experience we didn’t feel welcome not for one moment, there was no atmosphere, we even tried to chat with the waiter who looked at us like what are you doing speaking to me (bordering on ignorance) yet last time he was fun and chatty and barely left our table sorry your either a nice waiter or not (decide) again staff can make or break your business Consistency is what makes a place special along with good food this is what brings people back not a hit or miss. I said my concerns after we paid as I didn’t want this to be about money and hoped they would have asked me what went wrong they didn’t so we won’t be back. There was no apology nothing and for €165 it was just an experience il be glad to forget so thank...

Sadly I have to be brutally honest here...came to this restaurant two years ago and had the most amazing experience and one of the best steaks I've ever had...the owners were incredible and attention to detail and the food was equally incredible....fast forward two years and tonight's dinner for my Birthday! having flown from England and joined by friends from the area, the experience tonight was very disappointing! My steak dinner did not arrive, as the restaurant had run out of rib eye...they didn't tell us until our food was due to be served, and took a very long time to try and resolve the issue, ...the response was sadly shocking, all of us will not be returning....very saddened by the whole experience...who tells the customer the food isn't available until after the the rest of the table has their food? Also to add we had one vegan with us (she ordered chips) and they didn't even arrive. Nobody communicated with us, by the time we were told they were out of the steak, the rest of the food was cold (they did take the food and reheat it but it wasnt the same) So nobody enjoyed their food. The service is not the happy bouncy service it once was, the quality of the meat is not the same. And no body apologised for the problem. I have gone home on my Birthday very upset and still hungry!!! I do hope this is a temporary issue, as this restaurant used to be one of the best...

So sad it is so bad!! One star because I can’t give cero, or even minus!! Last year it was so good. But yesterday it was more like a disco inside, Very high music really, had to scream to each other and to the waiter!! And they said “hey…. It is San Juan,,, and party time” and I totally agree, but maybe not at 19.00 h and when we want to eat, and in a Resturante?!? If I want to go to a disco I do not go to a resturante?!? It was very slow service, and bad!! To have a new waiter to start in a day like yesterday is a big big mistake, and had the feeling she didn’t speak English and definitely not Spanish!! And didn’t seem like she had got any training at all!! They do have fancy small computers to write down the orders, but no, absolutely no control, so different waiters came to take the orders.I think we had at least three diferente, and asking (screaming) the same!! Still we waited a long time before we got the starters, and then when the main course came we had to send it back two, 2!! times because it was could. When we went to pay (we decided to go down to pay because nobody came to collect the money) the staff behind the bar was really rude and had drunk absolutely more then water, could hardly stand on there feet. Was told later they are famous of this! Will definitely never ever go back!! And I really don’t think I’ll have to because I don’t think...
