Tapas Gastro Bar — Restaurant in Altea

We just had a sweet experience here.

We had gone to the restaurant next door, called El Castell, and ordered a pizza and some drinks. We decided we'd rather take the pizza to go and finish our drinks, and the waiter became aggressive with us and told us to leave the table and wait outside, that we couldn't stay and finish our drinks. He made us so uncomfortable, and I told him he was aggressive and rude. He started to raise his voice and argue with us, so we canceled the order and left.

We went next door to this restaurant and were greeted warmly. We were seated, made our to go order, had our drinks, and were treated with kindness and respect.

Stumbled upon this place just by wandering around in the old part (nicest part) of Altea. This one is truly under-rated. Spoke with the waiters and was convinced I had to try this one out. The tapas are truly delicious . Hence the next step, spoke with the chef/cook/manager, Ramon. You can taste the passion of his elaborated explanation in his food. We came for a diner and drinks with the 3 of us. The prices are tourist area prices but you get good quality the service is very friendly and with a good dose of humour. There is an amazing atmosphere on this plaza and you feel like you’re eating in a fairytale.the ‘salad’ was great. It came with fried bacon and cheese so this was perfect for the unhealthy person that tries to eat salad. It was big and we shared it with 3.
