Bar La Socorrilla — Restaurant in Antequera

This was a Rick Steves moment. 8 of us dining on a busy square packed with local diners. The seats were all reserved when we arrived but the owner went across the street, grabbed some more tables and chairs and told us not to worry about the car parked next to us, it was his :-). Cars, buses, mopeds, delivery trucks slowly rolling by every so often were an kick to watch as they navigated multiple point turns in tight quarters. Portions are huge. 8 hungry people and we should probably have ordered 6 plates at the most. The pork steak was awesome, the tapas sampler was a bit hit and miss. This is simple, local food made to fill you up. I'd eat lunch there again in a second, but I'd also make sure not to order a glass of white wine as it had been in the bottle for while--lesson learned when everyone else is drinking beer, we should too. Clearly a well loved local place with all of the usual character...

My wife and 2 adult children came to Antequera on a whim on our way from Cordoba to Granada. We came to see the Moorish castle and after spending the afternoon there we were walking back to our car and stumbled across Bar La Scorrilla.

We were all hungry so we sat down and had a mix of foods including the Spanish omelette (when in Spain…), white bait, croquettes, grilled mix of vegetables, grilled pork & vegetables with fried egg as well as some beer and orange juices. All the food wash fresh and delicious.

We sat outside to watch the world go by and had a wonderful lunch. If in the area, drop into Antequera and also a bite to eat and a cool drink at Bar...

Good stop for food during your visit to Alcazaba. Pleasant family restaurant. Cheap too and nice terrace. The only thing that wasn’t so nice, is that we had to wait really long till our paella came. Though we think it might’ve been because they waited till we were done with our starter and perhaps we should’ve asked them that we wanted the dishes together or right away (al la derecha?).
