Tucked away in the small village of Artenara, Gran Canaria, Spain, there is a boutique eatery that serves up some of the best vegetarian and vegan food you'll find anywhere in the Canaries. After hearing about la Biocrepería RiscoCaído from a vegan friend, my girlfriend and I made plans to go there one recent Saturday. The co-owner extended us a warm welcome and attended us with respect over the course of our two hours at the eatery. Before we began our gastronomic adventure, my girlfriend ordered a pitaya smoothie that was incredibly delicious. I opted for an artisanal beer that was also quite good. The first course was hummus made from red peppers and local almonds. It came with pan bizcochado. The second course was chilled melon gazpacho (so refreshing in the afternoon heat). The third course arrived on two different plates. For me, a hearty crepe stuffed with roasted vegetables from the eatery's nearby garden. For my girlfriend, a delicious vegan burger with roasted vegetables. We savored each and every bite, enjoying the healthy deliciousness and vibrant flavors. After finishing our meal, we hung around for a long while to enjoy light conversation, a cold lassi, and an iced coffee. Before departing, the owner gifted us a bag of homegrown cherry tomatoes and told us more about the garden. If you're considering going to Artenara, be sure to put la Biocrepería RiscoCaído at the top of your list. 10/10. We will go again. Muchas gracias!

If you enjoy meals that combine great flavours and high quality ingredients, then you should definitely try the food here at Biocrepería RiscoCaido - it doesn’t matter whether you are vegan or not, the food is just great! The setting is lovely, with a couple of different terraces and a cosy restaurant area. You can tell that the owners really take pride in their food and the ambience of the restaurant, and we found them to be very kind and patient with us. Our Spanish is not great, but they patiently explained all of the meals, sauces, and ingredients, and they happily answered all of our questions. We loved sitting out on the front terrace watching the world go by below us as we enjoyed some of the best food we’ve had since we arrived on the island several weeks ago. With a rotating menu and new items to try, we plan to be back next weekend! Oh, and the pudding for postres was fantastic!

I heard about this restaurant a while ago and I always wanted to go so urgently but never managed until yesterday. And it was the best thing EVER! They follow such a great concept with the food they serve and the food itself is outstandingly good. Everything is so well thought out and warm and friendly and welcoming there. Its not like you just "go for food"... Order a dish, eat and leave. No, here you go out for a really nice food experience. You can taste the love the food was made with. The staff is super friendly, the food is again AMAZING, the value is great and Artenara itself is defenitely one of the most beautiful barrancos of the island. Coming here for food and the day is really a treat that is hard to beat. We are on the island for a while now and so far this place is now our new favourite. I would give more stars if I just could!!
