I absolutely love furanchos — best ambassadors for our 100% traditional food, full of flavor and made with top-quality ingredients.
The last one I visited was right on the Camino de Santiago, in Arzúa. I had tortilla, octopus (pulpo), and zorza with Arzúa cheese (with Protected Designation of Origin, of course!).
The tortilla, made only with eggs and potatoes — a real debate starter when it comes to finding the best one. Well, this was definitely one of the best I’ve had. The doneness was spot on. It was rich in flavor and subtlety. If I had to nitpick, I’d personally prefer the potatoes a bit crispier on the outside, but everything else — including the seasoning — was perfect.
The zorza was also one of my favorites: just the right amount of paprika, low in fat and gristle — truly excellent.
A big plus for the homemade fries too! I really appreciate that, especially now that so many places are switching to frozen ones.
The octopus was the only dish that I found slightly less impressive, although still very flavorful. I personally prefer it a bit firmer, with longer, chewier tentacles — this one was cooked just a bit more than I like.
All in all, a perfect stop along the Camino to enjoy authentic...

Food is disappointing and the atmosphere even worse!
Could not give us the pilgrims menu for 15 euros, which was clearly displayed outside on a board, as he said they run out of that food. We however ordered stuff that was only on the pilgrims menu and were charged double for it. To be precise, ensaladilla + pollo al horno, without dessert, came to approx. €18.50, without even dessert. Clearly, they did not run out of food. How dishonest.
Service was also really bad: whilst the waiter (guy in the photo) was taking our order, he left our table to collect a payment, before coming back nearly 10 minutes later. All the other waiters were running around like headless chickens; the bar was covered in dirty glasses.
At least the food came on time, though it was not worth what we paid for it.
To top it all off: only one card payment allowed per table, as the owner refuses to pay the commissions. Is this even legal? Will let the police know via email.
My suggestion would be, change bank provider and get better commissions, simple enough right?
We also had to wait standing nearly 45 minutes to get a table, with several tables empty in the establishment as we were...
Read moreI am walking the Camino De Santiago. I found this restaurant while passing. They have a set menu. I chose the harty vegetable soup which was served at my table. Then I had the grilled fish which arrived served with one potato. I was disappointed as I am used to eating vegetables with my meal. However the fish was very tasty. The waiter asked me if I would like another piece of fish which was a surprise. As Palgrims we are passing through. There is no need to go the extra mile for us. But this is a restaurant of principal which is why I am writing this review contemplating the piece of cheesecake in front of me. Then there will be coffee all for €15. This is very good value. I marked it down for atmosphere as the bloody telly was in! I wish this restaurant well. It...
