As regular visitors to Isla Canela we were keen to try this new place, especially as it looks stunning and has a great location right on the beach. Popped in for coffee and postres to see what it was like. No menus just a QR code to scan on your phone. Auto translate to English has Carta as Letter, Comida as Meal and worse Sangria as Blood! They should invest in some proper printed menus not just to correct the translations but to promote the stylish and different dishes on offer. A mobile menu just doesn't do them justice. Especially when you're given an iPad with it on and its not connected to WiFi so doesnt work. Asked the waitress what postres there were and were just told about the two on the menu when I could see chocolate tarta and tiramisu being served to other diners. Was served a regular coffee when I'd ordered a Grande. Maybe she was distracted by the headset she was wearing. Then the bill arrived in an empty tomato tin! Perhaps a bit picky and all small details, but there's a few simple things that could be improved to deliver the experience a smart place like this promises, given its decor...
Read moreI was with the person who left the review below and had the same poor experience. We were told to leave our table for “reserved” guests, even though no one mentioned this when we sat down and ordered drinks. We were moved to a table in full sun with a baby, no apology given. The new guests smoked with the wind blowing straight towards our baby, yet when we’d been in that same spot earlier, we were told we couldn’t smoke. When I asked the manager to step in, the reply was a rude “They can smoke there,” and the waitress who had told us otherwise just ignored me.
Those guests later mocked me by asking for drinks, pretending they thought I worked there. As an African man, I felt racially profiled and dismissed by both the guests and the staff, including the manager, who seemed to find it funny. No apology, no accountability just arrogance, hypocrisy, and zero respect for us or our child’s health. This place markets itself as a premium beach bar, but it’s pretentious, poorly managed, and not worth your...
Read moreNot as great as it used to be. The location and evironment are still fantastic, but compared to 4 or 5 years ago, it is now pricey and the service (when I was last there...) was terrible, even though the place was less than half full, and had a huge number of waiters (who look youthful, absent minded, probably temporarily hired for the summer time only and very little professional). A different waiter showed up every 5 minutes only to say that the previous order made with another staff member after all did not exist on the system. Took 20 minutes to bring a glass of water to a child after asking for it 5 times, and all the other drinks made at the same time had arrived long ago. Ordered a smoothie at the end, asked twice to be sure that the order had been made, waited another 20 minutes without it ever arriving and, asking a different waiter for the smoothie, was told (again) that no order of a smoothie was introduced. I gave up.
Left without tipping. Probably not going to be back for the next...
