Easily a 5/5 – absolutely brilliant
We’ve eaten in Michelin-star places and love our food, but this little restaurant in Sant Andreu, Barcelona, was something else. Proper food, made with care, served by someone who really loves what he does.
The owner was so kind and welcoming – he took the time to talk us through what we should eat (every single thing was incredible), suggested places we should visit, and even showed us some of the best local produce. You could tell straight away this was about more than just running a business – it was about sharing something he’s genuinely proud of.
We were only in Barcelona for three nights and ended up eating here twice – it was that good. This isn’t a tourist spot. We were surrounded by locals and regulars, which made the atmosphere even better.
We’d seen a lot in the news before our trip about tension around tourism in Barcelona, but we have not felt a single bit of that in Sant Andreu. In fact, one night we were seated next to some locals who struck up a lovely conversation and shared their own positive views – it just added to the whole experience.
We had bomba, croquettes, seafood, and amazing local wine and vermut that was both delicious and very reasonably priced – especially compared to eating out in the UK. The quality for the price was just unbelievable. I even tried tripe for the first time and honestly, it blew me away – absolutely stunning.
From the start, the owner shared his values – proper food, made in-house, using local ingredients, and priced fairly. And it really showed in every part of the experience.
To top it all off, our kids (9 and 11) felt so welcome they wanted to give their own tip – which the owner tried to refuse. That said it all, really. He wasn’t doing it for tips or good reviews – just because it’s way he like to treat people.
If we’re lucky enough to come back to Barcelona (fingers crossed), we’ll 100% be dining here again. Wherever you’re from, whoever you are – I genuinely cannot recommend this place...
Read moreI came here on one of my first nights in Barcelona as it was recommended by the host of the hostel I was staying in. It was so good I came back three nights in a row! The manager Jose (Pepe) made me feel incredibly welcome when I arrived and was keen to explain the different foods and wines he has to offer. It’s very clear that he cares about his business! I was able to get a taste of authentic tapas and (importantly) Catalonian dishes, which are all freshly prepared with a lot of locally sourced ingredients. The bar seems to be frequented by many locals, and is incredibly reasonably priced given the high quality of the food. I’d even go as far to say it’s the best tapas I’ve had. Ever! One of my favourite dishes offered was ‘La Bomba de Sant Andreu‘ (in the photos), which is their unique take on the Catalonian tapas dish. I went to other tapas bars in the area that had a large number of high ratings, and although they were very good, La Bodegueta really was the best in my opinion. I will definitely be returning here when I visit...
Read moreTalk about an authentic find! The owner, Josep, is so kind and welcoming. Everything is “casero” (homemade) by his wife and let me tell you it does not disappoint! Our group had a little bit of every traditional tapa: bombas, patatas bravas, calamar, tabla de queso, croquetas (14 types to choose from, every single one delicious 🤤). The Selenita Monsant red wine was perfect, I do not like red wine and this is the first red I have ever enjoyed 🍷 of course we had the recommended cava which is always a fan favorite. The setting is a typical cozy bodega setting making you feel right at home. There is limited seating indoors but they have a large terraza seating option which permits large groups to enjoy their delicious food. The owner was nice enough to dedicate his back interior space to our group of 11. This is not a venue to miss 🥰 normally I take lots of photos, but it all smelled so enticing that when it arrived I jumped right it and completely forgot. When I go back I will...
