Tierra Brava, nestled in the heart of Barcelona near Mercado del Ninot, promises a bold dining experience with market-inspired cuisine, creative cocktails, and vibrant music. However, recent visits have left much to be desired, revealing a stark contrast to its former glory. In the past, Tierra Brava was known for its energetic atmosphere, complete with a DJ spinning tunes that perfectly complemented the daring tapas and inventive cocktails. It was a go-to spot for those seeking a lively night out with great food and drinks. Unfortunately, it seems Tierra Brava is now riding on its previous reputation. On two separate occasions, I visited with large groups, expecting the vibrant ambience they advertise. Instead, we were met with a disappointingly plain and boring atmosphere. The once-pulsating energy that defined the place was noticeably absent. While the restaurant still offers its market-inspired gastronomy and signature cocktails, the lack of music and lively ambience has transformed it into just another eatery in Barcelona's crowded dining scene. The "brave" spirit they claim in their name - "Más brava que nunca" (Braver than ever) - feels like an empty promise. For Tierra Brava to reclaim its status as a must-visit destination, it needs to bring back the music and revive the dynamic atmosphere that once set it apart. Until then, it remains a shadow of its former self - a restaurant that's lost its edge and unique appeal. If you're looking for a simple meal, Tierra Brava might suffice. But if you're expecting the exciting, music-filled experience they continue to advertise, you're likely to leave disappointed. Here's hoping they can rediscover their rhythm and once again become the bold, lively spot they claim to be.

This restaurant is popular amongst tourists and locals. Main reasons being, their food and the ambience. Food wise; most dishes have a twist to their original Spanish recipe. They have plenty of good options so let the waiter suggest you some (bonus points if you don’t order paella for dinner, it’s a big no-no in Spain). Make sure to order the cannelloni, the chicken wings, any of the pizzas and the cheesecake for dessert. The “fake tiramisu” is more like a lemon ice-cream with cookie crumble. Ambient wise; the restaurant becomes a club Thursday to Saturday. My recommendation is to get a “late booking”, for instance 9.30pm and then stick around for a couple of drinks. It’s incredible to see how they change the whole restaurant into a small size club in just 10 minutes. It’s well decorated too, so a perfect place for some “influencer” pictures.

Environment is nice but honestly nothing special about the food and quite disappointing food and service. We had the croquetas to start, which the aubergine one was AMAZING and chicken one was good but more common. And then for the main dishes it took a very long time for the food to come. The waitress forgot about my drink and in the end charged me for 2 (we could fix that later). And about the main dishes we were quite disappointed. We ordered salmon and cod fish, but there was no taste of fish, they probably put so many sauces that it doesn’t taste like it should. Food presentation was nice, but tasteless. Honestly would comeback just for the aubergine croquettes!

Extortion on several sides. First was the rigatoni -1, it was €17 and not even close to worth it..you could get much more for that money ANYWHERE. I'm actually speechless, a kebab down the street would be tastier and more filling than this. Please bring me to grocery store and give me ten euros and I guarantee I could make a bigger and better pasta than this place. Pasta is so basic, it is not hard to make a good one and this one was just awful.. It was about 9-11 rigatoni noodles in a soupy sauce. I ate the meal in about 4 minutes - probably 5 bites, maybe 6? Awful quality and small portion. Second thing. We had reserved tables for a big group. But in the end 4 people couldn't come. The waiter asked us at the beginning of the night if those people were coming and we said no unfortunately they couldn't make it. They said okay no problem and moved the two tables away from us and everything went normally...until the bill came. They ended up charging us €100 euros extra on the bill for the two unused tables and never even bothered to tell us until we saw it on the bill. They couldn't not provide any good explanation why the charge was there and said it was simply the policy. It is basically robbery. Maaaaaybe if they were like 3 star Michelin restaurant, MAYBE, I could see something like this - but, this is a super basic party restaurant with too high prices on everything. It is not a Michelin star restaurant. And the tables were free anyone could have sat there. There was absolutely no reason or good logic for the surprise charge. Should we pay for the air conditioning and the toilet as well? It was bad enough that tap water was €5 a bottle! We also brought our own cake for a birthday and they charged us €12 to cut the cake!!! Basically they were trying to find a way to put charges on the bill any way possible. They can probably get away with it because there were probably 3 hen parties in there and a bachelor party. And people aren't paying attention. I feel like this is a place to just drink - it is not medium or high end dining at all...Then in the end they did the worst thing by just completely lying to us. They told us they would remove the €100 charge just so we would leave and then the next day the processed the charge anyway! What absolute cheapskates and complete extortionists. Be careful if you go here, make sure you check your bill carefully and keep track of what you are ordering. You will be charged for EVERYTHING. In the end it was not worth it, I do not recommend. This city is so full of many amazing places and I definitely wouldn't want to spend another euro or another minute in this place. Do yourself a favour and go to one of the other 1000 better restaurants...

You would think an establishment that is so popular on social media would have exceptional service and be accommodated to their guests, but that would be incorrect. We were a group very excited to have their final dinner in Barcelona here and not only was the service bad and the waiter had an attitude the entire time, we actually weren’t able to get our food because of the poor service. We ordered and multiple entrees didn’t come out, so we told our server. We were met with extreme attitude and he walked away and didn’t hear what we had to say. Then he avoided us the entire time, making sure he wasn’t in eyeshot so we couldn’t even flag him down. Even though we wanted to continue buying drinks and food, because it’s a tapas restaurant the whole point was to order multiple items off of the menu. We are all finished eating our one round and our friend still hasn’t received the food that she ordered, so we had to flag the bartender down so we could explain the issue because the waiter was nowhere to be found. She explains she doesn’t want her food anymore and we just need someone to allow us to pay and leave when the original waiter finally comes around and rolls his eyes. I see him go to the POS system and put something in. 15 minutes later while we are desperately trying to leave and pay her food comes out. We couldn’t even begin to explain our issues or get a refund because everyone was ignoring us at this point. The waiter finally comes over, doesn’t say a word and puts the card reader in front of us and practically runs away, obviously doesn’t say goodbye or thank you or anything. This place was terrible and we were not only left with horrible service, but with empty stomachs because we wanted to order multiple entrees. I cannot believe I went to a restaurant that would not allow me to order from them. You would think they would want more business and allow us to order food from them but obviously this was impossible. DO NOT GO HERE. Spend your money somewhere else. The food was good but it was not worth our trouble and just left a bad taste in our mouth and...
