After travelling all around Jamaica some years ago, I am always on a look out for world class authentic food. This place did not disappoint.
For starter, I went for the platter/mezze which was a mixture of salt fish fritters, jerk wings, dumplings, plantains and coleslaw. All were absolutely incredible, full of flavours and freshness you would expect from a top restaurant.
For main, the wife went for jerk salmon which was a good portion and again very tasty authentic jerk. I went for the Taste to come Trio ( you can sense the theme here!). I did enquire to ensure this wasn't too much food but I was keen to try as much on the menu as I could! The trio consisted of mouth watering jerk chicken, stewed chicken and a world class curry.
After this fine meal, I tried some Jamaican rum cake which was to die for. I never tried this in Jamaica but it was an impressive desert.
After polishing off the meal, I followed up in true style with some Appleton Rum, again a favourite of mine when in Jamaica.
If I was in the area for longer, I would have visited again without a doubt.
All in all, this was a special experience and after trying many Jamaican restaurants outside of the Caribbean, this is the benchmark of Jamaican food.
This place comes highly recommended and the staff made us feel very welcome.
Luckily I skipped breakfast in order to enjoy the vast menu. The only disappointment was that I had other reservations so was unable to visit again during my...
Read moreTook my wife and son there for his 1st birthday and I don't know where to begin about how great this place is!! I read the reviews before going and noticed there was alot of great reviews and 5star rating so as a Jamaican myself I had to check this place out.....I can only define it as a hidden gem, small and intimate. The welcoming when you arrive is what most other restaurants seem to fail but not here. Staff very friendly and accommodating, the owner even greets you and shows care to you as her customer which other places also fail. Food??!! I can only say that as a Jamaican I'm very fussy with food especially from my country but here it is truly divine! Perfectly cooked food, flavours melting in your mouth to the point where you just want to keep eating without stopping. 5 star meals with a very nice rum punch to have after and very nice Jamaican music! I highly recommend this place and as I'm here for 1 month I will be going there very often.....big thank you to the staff and Carolyn for everything and my son had a great birthday, he loved the...
Read moreAPPETIZERS = 5 STARS: I’m writing this review just after the appetizer. We had the Ackee & Saltfish Plantain Cups. Freshly made and exquisite. Authentic in spirit but haute cuisine in presentation. I will continue this review once our main courses arrive.
MAIN COURSE = 5 STARS: The jerk was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We had the Salmon and Chicken dishes and we both enjoyed it immensely. We added the plantains and the Mac&Cheese and we’re not disappointed.
SERVICE = 5 STARS: This is where most Jamaican establishments lose points. Customer Service is not one of our strong points. It is customary to put up with bad service when the food is good. Especially when it’s great. Well this place is the best exception. The service was supreme. One example: They were out of the rum needed for their Rum Punch cocktail, but they improvised and it was more than tasty. The lady who served and might be the owner, Caroline/Carolyn, was a joy. I will most definitely come back for more because this is o e of those places that leave you saying,...
