Cal Tronc — Restaurant in Besalú

The most authentic Spanish meal we've had in Besalau. previously had eaten in the main square which is busy. Cal tronc is off a side rd 1 minute from the square . we arrived at 8.30 and sat outside , although it has a large air-conditioned interior. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced . The waiter/ owner spoke extremely good English and was charming and funny . The place had a family vibe about it ,we were the only English people there ,the rest of the customers seemed like they were locals. I can't recommend this place enough. We had a three course meal with wine from a set menu and it was about 45 euros including a tip. By far the nicest place we had dinner in Cataluña. Mega nice and funny waiters who kept bringing us more food and wine as there were less customers than expected and they didnt want to throw it away. Only two menús were charged but we ate for 5 people. There was live jazz music which was pretty good like a jam session between friends who know what they are doing. Our two year old daughter was making friends with kids of other tables and could play safely in the street and restaurant. Everybody kept an eye on them. Este local es encantador, esta decorado con un poco de todo sin importar si concuerda una cosa con otra, pero eso si es acogedor.

La comida que sirven esta muy buena, todo bien elaborado y bien presentado.

Pero... Los camareros, en concreto uno... Es la primera vez que encuentro un caso asi y espero que sea el ultimo. (Este dia en el local solo habia 5 mesas llenas contando la terraza) Primeramente nos tomo nota una xica sudamericana que al principio parecia normal y maja, pero de repente algo dejo de funcionar puesto que esa nos lleva las bebidas y a los 5 minutos nos vuelve a traer otra botella de agua, nosotros le decimos que no la hemos pedido y seguidamente se va a repasar mesa por mesa de quien era el agua... Pero al parecer lo peor aun estaba por llegar... Seguidamente empezo a servir-nos un hombre que llevaba tal borrachera que no se le entendia cuando intentaba ser gracioso/hablar... Se equivoco de mesa con casi todos los platos que servia... Y finalmente le sobrava un postre (seguramente porque puso otro numero al escribir), nos lo ofrecio como regalo de la casa, pero a la hora de pagar... Como no el postre estava en la cuenta.
