The road down to Masca was an experience. Steep, narrow, and so many tourist coaches, as well as lots of other hire cars, there were significant hold ups. But what can we say, we were also part of it! (We also realized it was prime time, buses heading down for their lunch stop as it was early afternoon. On our way back up in the early evening it was much quieter. Something to note!) The views were incredible, so it was easy to bypass the road rage! We came to bar Fidel after reading about it in our guide book (Hidden Tenerife). Walking to the back you find the main dining room with glass windows that completely showcases the dramatic landscape and surrounding green hills. Food was incredible, local, homemade canarian dishes and friendly service. Very little English.Grilled cheese with cactus jam and palm honey was a standout dish. We even bought some cactus jam from the shop at the front. It was busy, and bustling with a great atmosphere. We were lucky as it was blue skies and the sun was about, but it can get very windy! Unfortunately the path was closed down to Barranco de Masca- (beach) but maybe coming later in the year it would be an incredible hike. Highly recommend and a highlight of our week...
Read moreThe food is average, you can eat if you are hungry, however I wouldn't order half of what we had second time. The fried cheese I had is ok, the chicken is not good, goat mwat had no taste, everything fried was really dark, but I can recommend potatos. NOTE: BE CAREFUL TO ASK WHERE YOU WILL BE SEATED.
What I didn't like and it drives this opinion down is the staff. The lead waiter (owner maybe) was very rude. We wanted to change seats to have a view, we asked a waiter for permission and he confirmed it was ok. Then this rude guy started yelling at us that once you sit you cannot switch places. I'm okey with that, but his method of telling that was extremely and unnecesarily rude. Nobody told us before sitting us and he came back waving his phone with a photo that showed apparently menu showing this rule somewhere at the end. I tried to explain that we checked with staff, but it got even worse. Umfortunately not...
Read moreHow can they even have 5 stars. We had dinner here and the food was terrible. It was very very oversalted, we had the rabbit and cheese + potatoes.
Food: TERRIBLE WORST EXPERICENCE IN YEARS OF A RESTAURANT, I was traveling for 7 months and south east Asia and EVERYTING that I eat in that time was 30x times better!!!
Service: we were not allowed to sit to a nicer place even if the table was free for some reason: we asked friendly and the owner just told us they close soon so no. Even if it was just the table next to us and there were 2 tables with pretty view next to us :(
Prices: way to high for very bad food and not really friendly owners.
Sorry for being so rude but we felt the same in the local!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN! + the most expensive food we had on Teneriffa in the last days!
My stomach made a lot of problems after that...
