We were told about this restaurant as a Tuesday alternative by our friends at Burga2 - Toledo is closed on Mondays and Burga2 on Tuesdays.
The place was packed with locals which is always a good sign, so despite arriving a bit earlier than the Spanish 14.00 we had to wait for a bit - beers at the bar weren't problematic.
The food - solomillo de cerdo and secreto ibérico were huge and wonderful, and the house wine was better than many in the area.
The only problem we had was their policy of not accepting card payments so we had to pay cash the only time we went.
We would have liked to have gone back - the paucity of ATMs even remotely close to the restaurant prevented this - another 15-min walk into Buenavista along a road with no pavement and blind corners for drivers to withdraw cash, come back the same way meant it was a nice one-of for us.
Staff were great, locals friendly to us tourists, so the only thing I can say that was bad was the lack of card payment - what if you want another beer? Extra coffee? But I suppose the locals know what they're doing and we were outsiders, despite having been made...
Read moreThis inconspicuous place was recommended to me by my local host as worth adding a few kilometres on the way to Masca (by the way, it seems s also perfet stop if you go to El Toro). And indeed, inside it appeared to be a bustling place full of feastng locals. Of course not without the reason: the cuisine was really good (and so were prices). This was first tie ever here where I tried sweet (sic!) black pudding 'morcilla dulce'. For the main course I had a grilled squid, which was also very good, tender and aromatic, but... it was contaminated with veeery bitter, apparently burnt oil, which spoilt the whole experience. Otherwise I would be happy to give them 5*. Hope it was just an incident, so I recommend...
NADA...
