Restaurante Indio Taj Mahal — Restaurant in Burgos

What a disappointment.

Being English, I love a good curry, and after living in Burgos for the past five years without any Indian restaurants, I was very excited to hear that one had finally arrived in the city.

I have been to many restaurants in the past, and this was without doubt that worst.

The food: Cold, dry.

The service: Terrible.

The restaurant: Disgusting smell of sewage pipes (situated directly beside the main door as soon as you walk in).

So, after the receptionist could not find our reservation which we booked several hours previously, we finally ordered our food. We were waiting for a relatively short time when ONE of the main meals arrived. This was very bland and not warm enough to wait for my girlfriend's dishes to arrive, so I ate it beforehand.

Then came the side dish of poppadoms, and the rest of our cold, dry order.

The poppadoms were covered with oil which was literally dripping off of them. When they cooled, the remaining cold wet fat from the residue was less than appetizing.

They totally forgot my starter, and the nan bread was dry tasteless rubbish.

At the end, they then tried to charge us an extra €10 for food we didn't order (2 plates of chips!!??), and when we informed them that I didn't even receive my starter, the waiter tried to tell me that the poppadoms WERE the starter!

As mentioned, I have been to more than enough Indian restaurants to know the difference between the two, and I was astounded that the waiter did not.

In the end, my girlfriend had to return home and have something else to eat, as this experience ruined our Saturday night.

If you have never had a good quality curry before and want to try something different, then you may like it.

Voy a admitir que visto desde afuera, el restaurante no tiene pinta de nada. Parece un kebab, las luces neón no le favorecen en lo absoluto, y no se aprecia muy bien cuánto espacio hay por dentro, por lo que no había entrado nunca a pesar de vivir al frente, y de ser fan de la comida india. Anoche entré por primera vez, luego de darme cuenta de que en realidad parecía bastante espacioso por dentro, y quedé encantada. Tiene muchísimo más espacio de lo que pensaba, y la decoración por dentro, a pesar de estar un poco sobrecargada y de ser estereotípica, tiene su encanto, lo hace ver como un sitio con más clase de lo que aparenta. La comida fue lo mejor de la experiencia. No solamente estaba muy rica, sino que era bastante, y al final salía por muy buen precio. Tienen parrilladas para 2 e incluso 4 personas que rentan muy bien, y el resto de platos también tienen un buen tamaño, incluso nos sobró arroz. Los panes incluyen tres salsas muy ricas que no se mencionan en el menú, así que recomiendo mucho pedirlos. En fin, tuve una experiencia muy agradable y me arrepiento de no haber entrado antes. Creo que la mejor forma de aprovechar la variedad del menú es yendo en grupo y picando un poco de todo, pero incluso habiendo comido solo dos, pudimos disfrutar de una cena rica y asequible en un sitio diferente. The owner is super rude and doesn't know how to deal with customers. Our Uber eats order was wrong the previous day and instead of correcting it or acknowledging that mistake happened, he literally made me and my daughter walk out of his restaurant the next day when we were going to pay for all the dishes that we had ordered but he was super rude in his dealing with us. Would not recommend anyone...
