I was very upset by the owner’s response to my husband’s comment. If the kitchen closes at 3:00 PM, then why does Google and the sign on your door state opening hours as 1:00–5:00 PM? In that case, what exactly does your establishment operate as between 3:00 and 5:00? Just a terrace where guests get scolded for sitting down? Perhaps the kitchen hours are mentioned somewhere in fine print, but like my husband, I was certain that you were open until 5:00 PM, based on the information on Google and on your door. If that’s not the case, then you should correct the information so as not to mislead your guests.
We spent several minutes looking through the menu by the entrance, yet no one approached us. The terrace was not blocked off. I don’t think sitting at an open, unblocked table can be considered rude. At least in other places we have never experienced such a hostile reaction.
It’s unfortunate that you assume any guest arriving after the kitchen closes expects your staff to work overtime. I noticed other reviews describing similar situations. As customers, we cannot be expected to know your internal rules and schedules—it would be enough to explain it politely and update the posted information. Also, if you believe sitting at a table when the kitchen is closed is inappropriate, then you should close the terrace instead of blaming your guests.
Sadly, your rudeness spoiled our mood and experience.
Upd.: unfortunately, the owner’s reply contains personal attacks, xenophobic remarks, and unnecessary comments about “education,” which only highlights the customer service style of this establishment. Dear Irene, sitting down at a terrace table does not provoke aggression in my country, in any other country I have visited, nor in the neighboring restaurants around you. Upd. I don't speak Spanish but based on what I see in a translated version of the owner's reply, they say we were rude enough to enter the restaurant during the WORKING HOURS. Well, I'll tell you how it was. I and my wife came up to the front door, saw that restaurant is open until 17:00 and were about to get seated at the table. (That's probably considered rude, huh?) Irritated waitress or owner or whoever it was ran out of the restaurant, without greeting, asking "how may I help?" I asked if the restaurant was working. She answered "yes, I am working here" pretending she doesn't understand what I am asking about (like what? I didn't ask whether you work here or not) I rephrased whether the restaurant was open, she answered "kitchen is closed and will open at 20:00" and left. No goodbyes no nothing. We thanked her and left. And now they are telling we were rude. Listen, if your restaurant is closed you should make it explicit for visitors and not put plates that it's open until 17:00. Reservé a través de thefork, y al llegar a la terraza del local con mis amigos, Irene sale hacia nosotros con un aire muy antipático y déspota, comunicándonos que no es posible entrar sin camiseta, a lo que nosotros, muy cordialmente respetamos y asumimos las condiciones del local. Pero ella insiste, sin motivo alguno, de una manera muy podo cordial y con cero educación. A tal punto que no me deja hablar ni preguntar nada sobre mi reserva, y siempre manteniendo una actitud explosiva y altanera. Una vez estamos sentados en nuestra mesa, le pido si es posible un ventilador para la mesa, a lo que ella responde demasiado enérgica, engreída y con el ceño muy fruncido, que “claro que no!”, una vez ocurrido esto, me doy vuelta, y todos mis amigos se dan cuenta que pone una cara de asqueo y desprecio hacia mi. Una vez ocurrido esto, mis amigos comienzan a argumentar las causas de su actitud, pero ella sin mas, continua muy lejos y reacia a querer solucionar o cambiar de actitud. Ese es el momento en el cual decidimos dejar el local, y además ella se descontrola exageradamente, diciendo que nosotros le hacíamos un favor al irnos, que llamaría a la policía…. EN SERIO?…. Realmente ha sido una DE MIS PEORES EXPERIENCIAS EN ALGUN servicio de restauración. Esto no termina, ya que ha tenido que salir un colaborador desde dentro del local, para tratar de controlar a Irene, la cual continuaba descompensada y comentando frases delirantes sobre nosotros. E insisto… NUNCA TUVO UNA ACTITUD DE RESPETO. Y nosotro nunca se lo faltamos. NO RECOMIENDO ESTE LOCAL PARA NADA.
