La Riera de Calella — Restaurant in Calella

We visited here for a quick snack after the beach due to it being a 2 minute walk away. We chose to sit outside amongst the trees which was nice considering we are in the heart of the town. We decided to order one of their seafood dishes consisting of prawns and crayfish (both in their shell) and 2 Fantas. The Fantas came in glass bottles and were like nothing you could get back in England, tasting like freshly squeezed orange juice. The seafood arrived and looked very nice, the sauce / seasoning was beautiful and tasted like garlic and parsley. However the seafood did seem as though it had been frozen as it didn’t come away from the shell as easily as expected. We did also unfortunately have a lot of flies which made it impossible to eat (this was most likely due to us eating outside however this is the only option available). Although this was not the restaurants fault, when mentioned we then no longer had to pay, due to us having only eaten 2 prawns. Well I ordered a Oreo milkshake and a meat lasagna and it was probably the best lasagne I have ever had. Luckily we had managed to get a table and not have to queue up for ages which was really good. What annoyed me though was when they brought out our food. They all looked delicious, tasted delicious but they all came out at different times. We got our fish & chips first, then more than 15 minutes later we got our spaghetti carbonara (with a huge pot of parmesan cheese), finally came- after 20+ minutes- came 2 lasagnes and a Frankfurt hotdog, then at last our other 2 lasagnes came out after they watched everyone else finish their food without them. I rarely leave reviews, but the experience here was disappointing enough to warrant one. The staff were incredibly rude from the moment we walked in—no greeting, no smile, just attitude. We waited ages to be served, and when we finally were, the service felt rushed and dismissive. No attention to detail, no apology for the delay.
