Our first impression was a full restaurant with a rustic ambience, which is why we spontaneously decided to eat there. After a short wait, our order was kindly accepted (two spaghetti napoli and a mixed salad). After 15 minutes of waiting, the first plate of spaghetti arrived for my girlfriend (a rather large portion of spaghetti with minimal tomato sauce which was more like unseasoned mashed tomatoes) and the salad. Although we had both ordered the same and simplest dish on the menu, I had to wait another 10 minutes until my spaghetti was brought. The pasta was lukewarm and the unseasoned mashed tomatoes were cold, like fresh from the fridge on my spaghetti. So I asked the waiter to take the plate back to the kitchen to heat it up. After waiting another 5 minutes, the plate was brought to me again, but the "sauce" was now no more than lukewarm. I therefore asked the waiter to return the plate to the kitchen to heat it up again and told him he could try it at any time to convince me otherwise. After another 5 minutes of waiting, I ate my finally hot plate of noodles on my own as my girlfriend had finished her meal in the meantime. Finally we asked for the bill which was brought to the table in a small bucket (no concession on the bill). We brought the bill paid in cash to the front as we wanted to express our criticism of the food and the timing in a friendly manner and we were NOT interested in not paying. We came across the owner of the restaurant who reacted completely unprofessionally, accused us of not wanting to pay (although the money was in the small bucket right in front of her nose) and ultimately had to be held back by her daughter and the other waiters. We tried to argue a little more in a friendly manner until we gave up and left the store, as we were met with a complete lack of understanding. In general, the ambience in the restaurant was very run-down and old-fashioned. Generally only recommended if you like eating ice-cold spaghetti with tomato sauce (which every Italian restaurant should be able to do) from white paper tablecloths. The cola was quite...
Read moreDuring our 7 night stay in Calella it become our to go place to spend the unforgettable night. We have visited the place four times. Food is delicious and adequately priced. Sangria tastes perfectly (though it is soo good that you will need w refill quickly...). Home-made deserts are just perfect. We have especially fell in love with the carrot cake 🥕 and chocolate cake poured with hot chocolate (I recommend you order it with a 'scoop' of home-made vanilla ice creams!).
But beyond the foot this place is a must for everyone that wants to enjoy unique Spanish/Italian atmosphere. The place is ran by a family and you can clearly see a hospitality, energy and drive in their every move. They know they customers, greet them as a friends and host with delicious food. This place attracts a lot of locals who, together with the owner's family, create laud but pleasant noise that you need to experience!
Guys! Many thanks for hosting us. I think that every want-to-be restaurant owner shall visit your place and get a hint of how owner shall act and behave in its own culinar kingdom.
All the best! Grzegorz & Natalia (the one that enjoys your carrot cake way...
Read moreWe ordered 7 pizzas for delivery from Casa Nostra last week. There was a bit of a mix-up over the payment on delivery and we ended up paying twice, but the delivery chap (also the owner I believe) was most apologetic and promised to fix it from the premises, as it wasn’t possible to reverse the transaction at that moment in time. He called the next day to say they would be bringing cash back to us as having spoken to his bank, that was the easiest way to refund us. He came back to our villa, at a time to suit us, with a cash refund. Absolutely stellar customer service and a truly lovely person. And of course the pizzas were absolutely delicious! Would totally recommend and thank you again...
