A chance passing-by resulted in one of the best meals we’ve had in Mallorca. A beautiful, tiny oasis of restaurants, in this most unlikely of backstreet-esque locations, houses a hidden gem named Donna Vegana. Any argument that says vegan food is just grass and boring cuisine is entirely knocked out of the park in this most colourful cafe. The menu is delightful and the food is even better. Extremely tasty dishes that are wonderfully presented. A lot of thought, creativity, passion and compassion has been used here. The service was excellent (so rare to find in Mallorca) with an attentive team of waiters that are quick to serve but without the customer feeling at all rushed. Not once did you feel that anything was missing in this meal. It was full of colour and flavour and completely cruelty free. Whilst the cost of dining wasn’t cheap, we left feeling that it was worth every penny. Completely satiated without any bloated feeling that you can get with some dairy inclusive recipes. The only negative I would say is that you have to look up the menu on your phone using the QR code scan. This is something I really don’t like doing because you have then zoom in and zoom out and can’t easily get a comparable overview. Plus phones have inevitably taken over much of our lives, so meal times should remain sacred and phone-free…. In my humble opinion :) Perhaps if I had asked for a physical menu we’d have been offered one, but as we’re no longer in covid times, physical menus should be the opening choice. The drinks were as creative and well thought out as the food menu. My gf had a lemon, ginger and chilli lemonade! Wonderful. Donna Vegana deserves every success and we shall absolutely...
Read moreProbably the best dining experience I've ever had, not just as a vegan, but of all time. We were so excited by the options that we ordered as many different dishes as we could to share around the table and every bite of every dish was insanely delicious. My personal favourite was the sushi - just next level (and I know it's not important for a lot of vegans but it tasted and felt just like fish sushi). The non-veggie eater who joined us was very impressed as well. The juices, smoothies and lattes were out of this world, too. The portion sizes were perfect. The service was unparalleled, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. And dogs! So many people brought their dogs with to lunch - it was AWESOME. The general vibe of the restaurant altogether made us feel like we didn't want to leave long after we were done with our meal. We came back the very next day for another lunch and will be going back every time we visit the island from now on. I highly recommend Donna Vegana to all diners, not just vegans. It's well worth the 20 minute drive from Palma city center - in fact, well worth a flight to Mallorca just to go there. I'll be dreaming about the food til our next visit. Thank you, guys!
EDIT - At the request of another diner at my table, please consider having 1 or 2 paper/card menu's at hand for those who struggle with the menu on their phones/QR code. Some people could have technical inaccessibility in the case of disability (and in some cases connectivity issues for over-seas travelers)....
Read moreWe went to this area specifically to go to Donna Vegana. The food was really lovely. Everything was good (hummus, fajitas, sushi tempura). The service was very odd. The waitresses were very mechanical. They weren’t interested in explaining anything and got very confused when we asked about the possibility of adding chicken to one dish (as we had read a review which said that this had been possible.) I had asked the waitress if it was possible and she had said yes but when it arrived it was a chicken substitute. When I asked if this was an error she pointed out that this was a vegan restaurant (yes we knew that) and that they didn’t serve chicken (so contradicting what she had said previously.) all very confusing. We weren’t sure whether she understood English or Spanish and maybe misunderstood us. We tried to speak Spanish to the waitresses as we are Spanish but they insisted on speaking to us in English. My daughter got very annoyed! When paying, we weren’t brought the bill, we were just told how much the total was. This was very strange. I asked to see the bill a) to check it and b) because I wanted to add a tip. I have to say that I found it expensive for a regular lunch for 3 people (2 children) and no alcohol to push the price up. (90€) I later noted that the waitress had not added the correct tip - adding less than I had asked. All in all a nice meal with strange waitresses that seemed not to understand English or Spanish and appeared to wish they were...
