We had lunch at Restaurant Can Bosch at the start of this month, after having several great culinary experiences there in the past. The interior space is lovely with the tables spaced a good distance from each other. Of course, the whole place is spotlessly clean. The table settings themselves - wine glasses, tableware and cutlery, are top class, as one would expect of a restaurant with a Michelin star. The serving staff are friendly, engaging, attentive and discreet at the same time. The food, starting with the ‘amuse-bouches’, is excellent. We had the Traditional Menu which consists of various dishes, in addition to delicious crispy bread. Especially worth noting was the black rice with garlic foam, the octopus, the truffle ravioli, the veal and the wonderful chocolatey dessert, plus ‘petits fours’. For a very reasonable extra cost, we chose to have the option of having mineral water, wine (one bottle per two guests) and coffee included. As there were three of us, we had a lovely bottle of beautifully chilled white wine and half a bottle of excellent red wine, both recommended by the restaurant owner with our wholehearted approval. In fact, Juan Bosch is a great host. He happily spoke to us about the food we were being served, as did his son, the head chef. All in all, it was a truly memorable meal. Hats off to all those at the restaurant who made the...
Read moreWe were really excited to eat here, as we'd researched it well, and the reviews looked great! The food is beautifully presented, and each course is introduced / described by your waiter as it's brought out. The reason I've marked down 1 star for the food was the seasoning. We had one course which was screaming out for more salt, and then an accompanying component to the veal dish, an emulsion, was so salty, we had to leave it, which was a shame as the veal was amazing. The service overall was first class. Efficient, informative, and friendly. It was also nice that the chef came out and spoke to the guests! I've marked down the service by 1 point for the service given by the sommelier. Unlike the food, the different wines we ordered were not introduced, explaining the region, the grape, the flavour profile, and why he has chosen a wine to accompany your food!! Also, there was no trying the wine to affirm approval. 2 glasses were just poured!! This was a real shame, and a good sommelier...
Read moreIt used to be my favourite restaurant. However the owner/head chef is retiring and leaving the business to his son, a nice guy but definitely not nearly as talented as his father. From the tasting menu we only liked those legacy dishes from his father. The new dishes were only about technique with mediocre results (as an example, I do not care if you slow cook beetroot for 40h then marinate it in some complicated brine if, to me - and everyone on the table - tastes 100% like marinated beetroot from a supermarket chain). Really a pity because it used to be all about high quality seasonal product. Now it is about the young chef showing off, and sadly with mediocre results. Last but not least, Manel, the sommelier left in January, who, to me and to many regulars, paired with a fantastic wine list, was one of (if not the) greatest asset of Can Bosch. I used to drive from Barcelona exclusively to eat at Can Bosch. It is definitely not...
