Pizzería San Luís — Restaurant in Castelló de la Plana

Worst meal ever!!! Have used this for several years and have always enjoyed it, food and staff! Saturday however was a different matter. No staff, had to wait at least 20 mins for a drinks order to be taken! They took another 20 mins to arrive! Only 1 person taking orders and had to wait another 30 mins for that to happen. After another 30mins 1 main meal arrived before our starter, main dribbled out 1 at a time, np starters? Called waitress over to enquire, 1st starter came out ,10 mins later the second starter came out, other mains still not arrived!!!! Eventually 1 came, still waiting for the final 4th main, when it came it was the wrong food, away it went, also the Feta salad I had,wasn't Feta cheese,it was a soft creamy goats cheese, complained nothing done???? Eventually we got the 4th main correctlt???? Overall a disastrous meal, nothing served at the right time,bad quality, even charged for the wrong food and not we had. I didn't spot this until home!!?? Will not be eating here...

This an update to my original review, we visted again 21 April 2019, one day I will take some photos also. The restaurente is great, but what really makes it special is the staff, who are wonderfull, and so friendly - while we were there I saw one of the waiters lead a small child (from one of the other tables) by the hand so should would not get lost with the crush so many people about, to choose an ice cream from the freezer, and return with her, even though they were rushed of their feet. During busy periods there can be await, but thus is the only restaurente I have ever seen that puts food out for those customers waiting for a table! Amazing! The pizzas are just great, as is the Ensalada Templada. Excellent pizzeria, pasta is great also, not to be missed is the warm salad with goats cheese and dried fruits...

La primera vez que visitamos este restaurante fue por casualidad: llegamos fuera del horario fuerte de comidas y, aun así, nos atendieron rápido. Probamos la pizza y, aunque no sabíamos la calidad del resto de platos, sí notamos que las porciones eran generosas. Sin embargo, un buen restaurante no se mide solo por el tamaño de las raciones, sino también por el sabor, la calidad y la consistencia.

Ocho meses después volvimos, esta vez en hora punta, y la experiencia fue muy diferente. Dos puntos importantes a destacar: La comida. • La pasta al pesto: porción abundante y cocción correcta, pero la salsa era básicamente nata con pesto, sin el punto de sal ni de pimienta que se espera en un plato italiano. En resumen, una receta sin carácter y sin control de calidad aparente. • La pasta boloñesa para los niños: porción adecuada y sabor aceptable. • La pizza: nunca llegó a la mesa. Nos dimos cuenta cuando ya estábamos a mitad de la comida y, al preguntar, la excusa fue que “el printer se había dañado”. Una respuesta poco seria para un fallo tan grave. El servicio. El restaurante tiene las funciones bien divididas (unos reponen, otros sirven bebidas, otros toman comandas), pero la gestión del responsable de sala fue muy deficiente. El camarero que tomó la comanda desapareció cuando surgió el problema y delegó en otra compañera para dar explicaciones. En un restaurante medianamente serio, el responsable hubiera dado la cara, pedido disculpas y asumido el error.

En definitiva: de tres platos, uno aceptable, uno insípido y otro que nunca llegó. Ni la generosidad en las raciones ni una excusa mal dada compensan una mala gestión en cocina y en sala. Lo que más decepciona no es el error en sí, sino la falta de responsabilidad para afrontarlo. Por eso, lamentablemente, no puedo recomendar...
