Mariana — Restaurant in Castelldefels

The Mariana is one of Barcelona’s most well kept secrets. Situated on the side of a quiet little street in the suburb of Castelldefels, Christian and his wife serve up amazing, authentic home Italian home made food.

We asked for a starter and were served with the most delicious bruschetta we have ever tasted, let alone imagined. A dish served with fresh ingredients, with the perfect blend of crusty toasted bread, topped with the best tasting mixture of tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and Christian and his wife’s secret preparation….simple, yet astounding.

We asked Christian what he recommended from their amazing selection of pasta and other dishes. We chose pasta carbonara and Christian suggested pasta with green pesto.

Once again we were simply blown away with such wonderfully delicious and richly filling dishes, made with loving care by Christian’s wife (sorry Christian, we forgot to ask her name).

When you find yourselves in Barcelona, make an effort to visit Christian and say “hello” from us. You will be rewarded 100 times over with the most amazing Italian, home made food.

Amazing restaurant all around.

We stopped in for dinner while in town for work. The restaurant is fairly small however the menu is very good, the decor is very nice, and the service makes the whole experience wonderful.

We decided on the tapas menu and got several items;

Iberian Ham Croquettes Patatas Bravas Olives Calamari Petron Peppers Burrata Salad Serrano Ham

Our favourites were the burrata salad, the peppers and the Serrano ham (with the pizza bread!) however everything was very good.

Our server, Cristian, was absolutely lovely. A great server, a great conversationalist, and a lovely person all around. He made us feel very welcome and was very kind and helpful.

We ended up at this restaurant by chance, but we’re so glad we did! The first thing that stood out was the amazing service. Someone, maybe the owner or just a very attentive waiter, really went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome. He chatted with us, not just about the food but in general, and it made the experience so warm and friendly.
