Esquina Iberica — Restaurant in Ceuta

DANGER! Surrounded by 7 policemen! Had to give 1-star to write a review, otherwise it would be 0-star. Without going into all the details, this restaurant clearly doesn’t want foreigners here. We ordered off their specials menu – when the bill came, we were charged completely different prices, and for different food than we ordered. The restaurant then denied there was a specials menu, special pricing and that we had ordered different items. We itemised out the differences on the bill, they took this away and destroyed it, and gave us a new copy of the bill. We complained and they called the police. Within 2 minutes we were surrounded by 7 policemen, only two in uniform. We asked the Police for the original bill with our notes on it – the owner denied such a bill existed. The Police were only interested in our passports - not our complaint. After 40 minutes of complaining in front of a full restaurant, it got too scary, so we paid up and left to applause from the locals. I’ve left lots of stuff out here. Lessons learned would be take photos of the bill, menu and of the food delivered – do any of us do that, of course...

Looking for a seafood in African city of Ceuta? Then this is the right place for you. They offer a whole lot of meat dishes, but in what they excell is seafood and i loved every little piece of calmar a la plancha i've had. The setting is not anything particular, but it is clean and in a stressless location. Stuff is also extremely friendly. Even though you have to prepare to communicate mostly with gestures or a translator. As a drink we've had cerveza which was not as good as Czech is, but also not particulary bad. The thing they excelled in was the meal. Eggplant slices fried in a dough seasoned with honey were really good starter. After which we chose a whole Calamari with slices of tomato and salad seasoned with olive oil and salt. And i must say, that it was one of the greatest seafood i've had in my life. Fuimos a cenar (3 personas) a este bar un día que había muchas personas así que tuvimos que esperar una mesa, sin problema! Nos mandaron a sentarnos en una mesa y pedimos unas bebidas, de las tres bebidas que pedimos nos trajo 4, y 3 de ellas no eran lo que habíamos pedido. Para volver a pedir la bebida, pues pasaron 45 minutos, hasta que por fin un camarero me hizo caso y me trajo mi bebida, pero sin vaso y tuve que beber del botellín. Durante este tiempo, 3 o 4 mesas más se habían sentado y cenado, e incluso se habían ido. Tres camareros se acercan a la mesa para pedir la comanda, e íbamos con un celíaco, pedimos al camarero si ciertos platos llevaban gluten, nos contesta en cada ocasión voy a preguntar a la cocina, y no vuelve ninguno de los camareros. Después de cerca de dos horas sentados esperando, me levante y pedí por favor que se acerque un camarero que teníamos mucha hambre( las 23:30 de la noche, habíamos llegado sobre las 22:15). Viene una camarera, muy simpática y amable, y nos explica que es que había muchas personas esta noche. Lo entendimos perfectamente y por fin pudimos pedir la cena. Pedimos la comida y vuelva la camarera de los 8 platos/tapas que pedimos, tenían tan solo 2 tapas. Tuvimos que volver a las 0:00 a nuestra casa a hacer la cena. El bar nos pidió disculpas, pero poco más, ni se ofrecieron a pagar las bebidas que nos habíamos tomado. He sido camarera y entiendo que, sobretodo, cuando hay mucha gente es un trabajo muy complicado porque hay que estar en todas partes. Pero no está bien que nos tengan sentados 2 horas, sentando a más mesas y poniéndole comidas y luego a las 12 de la noche decirnos que es que no queda pan para los montaditos ni quedan los platos que habíamos pedidos. Y sin ofrecernos una mínima solución, ya que a esa hora no había otro bar abierto y no nos quedó otra que volver a la casa a cenar. Es verdad que había una camarera muy amable, no se su nombre pero llevaba gafas. Sin embargo había otra camarera joven, que hizo todos los esfuerzos posibles para ignorar nuestra mesa.
