My boyfriend and I came here yesterday for dinner. Prior to this we always thought The Blarney Stone had a good reputation. My boyfriend has been coming to Menorca for years and has often visited the restaurant, the both of us also visited last Summer.
The service we experienced yesterday (from the manager) was disgusting. We ordered one of the mains, cod with what was supposed to be garlic and parsley, and it turned out to be horrendous. We were polite enough to at least give it a try but it truly was not worth eating. My boyfriend kindly told the manager that was the flavour was really not to standard. Keep in mind that he is a chef so he knows his stuff but even myself, not being a chef, could taste that there was something seriously wrong with this dish. I’m sure anyone else tasting it would agree.
In this kind of situation you would expect it to be taken off the bill, considering the both of us barely ate it. The manager kept claiming that it tasted nice even though we, the customers, were the ones who ordered it and in all honestly the flavour was so off putting. My boyfriend throughout all of this tried to explain to the manager but he kept dismissing him and acting super defensive. There is absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism. The cod dish tasted awful and we couldn’t eat it. There is no other nice way of putting something like that. To conclude, the manager accused my boyfriend of lying and made him pay for a meal that was 1. Revolting 2. Had barely been eaten which really speaks volumes.
We will not be returning here, especially after my boyfriend was treated in such a rude manner by the manager of...
Read moreNo blarney here , just an Irish style pub that is a great place to eat & drink in comfortable surroundings at reasonable cost , it's location is excellent for the sunset view & it's a beautiful sight ! , so may I suggest you get there a bit earlier for your seats because it's a pleasure to see from the blarney's location . The blarney's has a good selection of seating options inside & out , ranging from bench style seats outside with tables & more traditional style seating inside . The blarney stone also has a good selection of parasols & shaded areas if you need to keep cool ! . The bar has a very good beer selection of draft beers & although some are imported they are still reasonable prices for a tourist area . The blarney stone also serves a very good barista style coffee & to my surprise it was of a very good standard & served in a squeaky clean cup , a nice touch ! . The blarney stone also has waiter & waitress service included in the cost of your Drink , so no having to wait at the bar & why would you want to on your hard earned holiday ? , but some people do like to get their own from the bar , it's all a matter of choice & it's your holiday . So if you like good food & drinks with good service & that perfect sundown view then the blarney stone maybe the place for you ! . should you visit enjoy...
Read moreWell what a surprise The Blarney Stone is! I ashameadly had a range of preconseptions about an Irish Bar in Menorca and I can truely say they were all completely vaporised with one visit to the place. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as well as very attentive without being annoying a seldom found skill back in the UK! The food was exceptional and impressed with every mouthful. From the sharing croquettes through to the Guinness chocolate cake (yes.....I know..) and everything in between. It was difficult not to stay there all day and visit everyday of our holiday. The view just tops off the whole experience as magical. Just as the sunsets every day on The Blaney Stone, it has on our holiday to gorgeous Menorca but the next time we return, this hidden gem will be first on the list for a wonderful meal and good cheer....
