We just had lunch in Denia at Il Mediterraneo. Location and decor were fantastic, server was very nice. Food a solid 2. We had the menu on the day. First course of egg plant parm looked ver nice but was very undercooked and lacking in flavor. Hard to cut with a knife. I think the chef was a bit confussed, Pizza with bologneise sauce and pasta diavola?? This is backwards. Pizza should have been diavola and the pasta should have been Bolognese. First time I have ever seen this. Meat sauce does not belong on pizza. Does not work. Pasta was very overcooked and "diavola sauce" was just weird. Nasty wet pizza, and something that tasted like if you were at home and had nothing in, but some old pasta and no seasoning. Oh but it cost 17 euros a head for the nasty tiny portion of pasta. It was bad. We complained. The staff argued with us, well, one did, the other said he was sorry (a lot). The food was good and not like the usual pizza and pasta you get everywhere. I had rigatoni genovese. Very delicious. My wife had the pizza mediterraneo which was unlike anything we ever had.
