El Pingüino — Restaurant in el Vendrell

A bit disappointed with this place. We read good reviews which is why we decided upon this place, rather than other seafood places along the beach.

The baby squid arrived and was ok. There was no accompanying sauce with them. I would have liked the same type of mayonnaise that came with the potato bravos my partner had, but it came with nothing, so they ended up being a little flat and flavourless. Unfortunate.

My octupus was ok again but lacked any real kick or flavour to make it something to remember. It was with pimento and olive oil but didn't seem that salty. Again, a little disappointing.

My partner had the sole which she wasn't happy with. She is not a fish person, but I did try it, and again, was just a little below average. No sauces, so we had to ask for condiments.

Service was ok, nice staff and attentive but I had finished my octupus by the time the sole came out. My partner wasn't best pleased - And now won't eat...

Terrible Experience - Overpriced and Disappointing

I had high expectations for this place, given its reputation and high prices, but I was sorely disappointed. The fish was far from fresh, and the portions were ridiculously small for what they charge. The service was slow and inattentive, and when I finally got my meal, it was bland and poorly cooked. To add insult to injury, the ambiance was nothing special—dim lighting and uncomfortable seating. Definitely not worth the exorbitant price. I left feeling ripped off and still hungry. Avoid...

Went here for lunch as a family and the food was pretty good. They let us know that it would all take a little longer as one of us had ordered the paella & asked if we wanted the other items to come sooner which is great when you have kids. The menu was in English too which was great, we sat outside but under cover so it was pleasant. The Paella was great! The grilled chicken was also really good and great for kids.
