We were looking for a place to have lunch. Passing by this restaurant we were captured by its nice ambience and location and decided to try it out.
The waiters were very friendly and accommodating. All of them spoke good English, that is until our horrible food experience.
Having been walking around for most of the first half of the day, we were naturally starving. So we ordered a burger and one of the fish dishes this place was famous for. After 50 mins of waiting the food finally came.
The fish was overcooked and tasted like rubber but still eatible. Its 19 eur price tag was quite expensive compared to the offerings of other beach bars, literally 200 m on the left and right of this one.
The burger on the other side was absolutely disgusting. Coming at 14 eur price tag, it looked and tasted like a fusion between soviet era cantine food and a post apocalyptic can of spam. The meat cannot be defined as beef. It looked and tasted like spam being served in a round Form. The garnishment was a piece of tomato with a few pieces of onion. A complete disappointment after waiting for over 50 mins.
The ambience of the bar is nice, the staff is ok but the kitchen is disappointing at best or complete ripoff at its worse. If you really want to have a good dining/launching experience I highly recommend you to simply walk by this place, walk just 2 mins down the beach line and visit the restaurant across the kids playground.
Edit: I did see some of the pictures of food posted in here so I decided to post some of my own. Not sure how it is possible that same restaurant can have such huge discrepancy in food...
Read moreThe location is perfect and the view is amazing. Don't be mistaken, that's what you're paying for. For a third of the price of the food you can get a better meal down the road with far better service. The food wasn't bad but neither was it especially delicious. It was just okay. The table next to me ordered apéritifs and they arrived after their meals. Oh boy! They were furious! What made them even more furious was the server didn't even seem to understand the problem. Come on, if you're going to charge those prices in a place where I can walk 10 minutes down the street and get a full meal for 4€ then you should know what an aperitif is. I was dining alone and they did not hide their annoyance that I was taking up a precious table. I ordered the most expensive meal on the menu, not worth it by the way. The side veggies were far overcooked. I had a cocktail and a bottle of water. From the time I placed my order it was nearly 40 minutes before I had my dish. I was ready to walk out. Between my hunger and listening to my neighbors complain about the drink debacle it may have had an effect on how I interpreted my meal but all those little things count. If you're not actually looking for an incredible meal, you just want a beautiful view and you're not paying attention to money at the moment then it's a...
Read moreWe just arrived for the first time in Estepona, and found this place walking down the boardwalk.
Service was good, had no problems, our waiter was attentive and answered all our questions.
The menu was very simple, it came in Spanish and English translation, so easy to understand as a visitor.
We ordered gazpacho for starter and gave croutons, diced onions, cucumber and tomato to add to taste. We shared the gazpacho between two people.
Followed by a beautifully presented grilled octopus tentacle, which was accompanied by mashed potatoes. The octopus was huge and tasted great, but you could tell it was overcooked (it was too chewy, not tender). We also ordered beef sirloin medium cooked, but honestly it was almost white so we thought it was actually the pork.
It has nice decor inside and transitions easily to outdoor seating with a cover. while you are on the beach and see the ocean, the view is obstructed by sunbeds/parasols. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to consider.
Overall, I would return there but I wouldn't expect it to be the best restaurant...
