Taberna El Moniato — Restaurant in Estepona

We went yesterday night to have very late dinner for us and were very hungry. Arrived at 9:45pm to the restaurant. There were two couple behind us, that got seated quickly, but unfortunately we had to wait 20-25 minutes to get a table, that the guy had to fixed for us, literally he grab a folded table and place us at the back of the restaurant. Finally got seated around 10:10pm. The waitresses were very busy with big tables and gave preference to locals. We ordered food until 10:45 when the waitresses remembered about us., we were patient and understanding. Unfortunately they didn’t treat us with the same attitude as the other tables. Not even once they asked if everything was okay or good. The food wasn’t great. As you can see (at the pictures) they didn’t tell us that one dish already had fried potatoes and we ordered potatoes… I mean ok, the croquettes’ potatoes were bought and others were made, but still if you know your dishes you should say something about it. The croquettes were weird, like eating some kind of corn starch dough with blue cheese. Not an expected taste and were accompanied by a blue berry jam? Blue berries are not cranberries as described in the menu. Squid was acceptable but there was no sauce to have it with. The salad was acceptable too as well as the tuna with roasted pimentos, but not amazing as expected. Maybe you should try other stuff off the menu, these didn’t work for us. Not a place to...

Awful personal that took as out from the table just because that someone that they knew or something came after us and give them our table. Ia was there with my wife and my 3 years old son. You are completely wrong, we were waiting before the other couple arrived, it was just that maybe the other couple left a tip or something the day before because your waitress knew them. I haven’t seen any pier or somewhere organised where you can ask, point it in the pictures if it exists. I’m not trying to make harm, I’m just pointing my experience with your restaurant, maybe I will give it another try one day and I will change my review, until then that was my experience. And stop trying to make yourself the victim I was just pointing who I was with, I didn’t said that my son needed special attention or something from you… Point for me in the pictures were are those family’s waiting because I can’t see them anywhere. Exactly what we were looking for in tapas. A little taste of everything to experience the local food. Excellent flavors and texture. From the cod and blue cheese croquettes to the sardines and roe. Fresh bread as well to soak up all the oil and vinegar from the dishes which we found very tasty. Friendly service and helpful. It also was nice and quiet on the street when we were there. And you can't complain...
