Can Carlos — Restaurant in Formentera

Dinner for 2 in July 22 - we had high expectations for Can Carlos since we’ve heard and read some good reviews of the restaurant’s fame in charming Sant Francesc Xavier. At first, the restaurant’s scene is warming and with a beautiful outdoors terraza. The hostess sat us at a nice corner table, with enough space for 4. And that was pretty much the highlight of the night. Service took 20 mins to take our order (had to be all at once since it could take another 20). No wine nor food recommend was suggested to us. We ordered 2 starters which were OK, but to pay 30€ each dish we expected to be amazing. We felt the same (or worse) with our main dishes - a tiny octopus with tasteless potatoes (37€…) and an overly cooked cacio e pepe risotto (31€…) with 6 baby tiny shrimps (needles to say it tasted all like cheese). The 2 starts goes to the beautiful location, however a big disappointment overall. From the moment you walk under the bougainvillaea canopy, you're treated to an elegant, beautifully decorated environment. Set in a beautiful courtyard, tables are well spread apart, making an intimate feel. The service, attention to detail, and high-quality food will leave the most fussy customer floored with pleasure. The offer of a glass of cava as you sit down can hardly be refused. Don't expect anything other than a Spanish menu, but our waiter explained everything in detail that we couldn't figure out ourselves. Three of us enjoyed six different plates. The risotto with raw prawns was delicious, as was the carbonara (a surprise pleasure). The slow cooked lamb was quickly devoured, my daughters very rare steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the carpaccio with cheese was probably the best we've enjoyed. Preciso che una stella è per i camerieri gentili e disponibili e per la location. Ogni anno faccio un salto a mangiare a questo ristorante e oltre all'aumento dei prezzi costante; un piatto d pasta al pomodoro (peraltro supescotta) con una burratina abbandonata sopra senza nessuna grazia né senso alla modica cifra di 30€ circa, l'episodio che più mi ha convinto che i miei soldi non li vedranno mai più, è stato l'episodio gestito malissimo a mio avviso dalla proprietà. Ci posizioniamo su un tavolino dal ripiano irregolare posizionato in discesa, come prevedibile dopo poco il bicchiere da vino purtroppo anche pieno, mi si rovescia addosso, rompendosi. Oltre alla doccia che vi assicuro mi ero già fatto, delle schegge di vetro mi feriscono la mano in due punti con tanto di sanguinolento e bruciore. Dopo la pronta segnalazione da parte del cameriere alla proprietà, si materializza un giovanotto cortese che oltre a spostarci in un tavolo vicino si prodiga con fazzoletti vari ad aiutarmi a fermare il sangue. La cena continua anche se con pantaloni e camicia zuppi all'aroma di Sauvignon. Al momento del conto, si materializza una signora con il conto chiedendo candidamente: " tutto bene"? Alla mio stupore di come questo episodio potesse non esser stato riportato, rispondo raccontando l'accaduto. Mi viene detto mi dispiace, volete che vi offra due amari? Lascio una generosa mancia e non accetto la "generosa" l'offerta. Ora in conclusione posso accettare di pagare qualsiasi cifra per una cena ma è certo che tutto deve essere adeguato, in questo caso anche se fossi stato in una bettola di terza categoria a questo casino sarebbe corrisposto un atteggiamento di customer...
