We arrived just before sunset at about 5.30pm. The restaurant was quiet with only few people eating. We sat inside as there was a breeze and poor light outside. The waiter was determined to sell us fish. We did not want fish and ordered entrecôte steak.his description was poor and mood dreadful.

The waiter was unhappy but took the order and a drink order. The food was cooked quickly but the waiter literally threw the plates on the table with a bang. So unprofessional and rude. The steak was delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The chips reminded me of chippy chips and were very good. The waiter had vanished so I got up and helped myself to ketchup. They don’t do a check back at all in most restaurants, you have to wave if you want anything. When we had finished I asked for the bill and the staff ignored us for 15 minutes so I asked again. 30€ for the meal and 2 wines which was not too bad. Steaks were large and tasty. There does not seem to be toilets and customers and staff use the public toilets up the road. This can’t be hygienic. I would go back as the food was excellent and the miserable waiter may have had a bad day. Still no need for the attitude he had. If he had been more pleasant and explained the fish better we may have been tempted, but having been caught out on “fish of the day” prices elsewhere we...

The best meal in this restaurant is “spanish cheese with potatoes”, as it’s as far away from cook as possible. Other meals were hardly acceptable, seafood paella’a main ingredient was salt, and although the presentation was nice, taste of it was quite far from perfect. The service is disastrous: waiters are unable to memorise simple orders, tend to bring food without any cutlery, and when asked to do so, brought forks and spoons, without knives. When asked again, it took them 20 mins to complete the mission. 3 times ordered beer, 3 different waiters, none of the was able to deliver the order (how complicated could it be to bring one beer?).

When clients leave, there are plates on the tables left for at least half an hour, maybe it’s a good idea to hire one, two men just to clean up the tables?

Overall rating of this place is way too high. I believe there should be some crucial changes made before casalaplaya deserves any grade...

The view of the beach at dusk is beautiful but... unfortunately the most disappointing/bad food we've had in Lanzarote yet. We came after reading good reviews and just wanted some tapas, so ordered the garlic shrimp, pepper stuffed with mixed seafood and fried cheese. Granted, the last choice was not a great match with the first two (ordered it upon the rec of a Lonely Planet writer), but the garlic in the shrimp was also burnt and therefore overpowering in flavour, and the seafood mix was a fishy, unappetising mash. The wine, a Geria rose, was the best part of the experience after the view! Maybe should have gone with a main, fish dish, but if our experience indicates anything, at least the starters are to be avoided. But would not risk it again, knowing other wonderful places...
