Kupela — Restaurant in Hondarribia/Fontarrabie

This is by far the most disappointing meal we had in Hondaribbia. We had an egg "mollet" with prawns. The dish was like a watery version of an omelette. The fish soup had 2 clams and three small bites of fish. Rather flat in taste. The main dish chipirones in ink was too salty for me to finish and the clams in green sauce was just ok. Nothing to shout about. With a bottle of white wine at 11 euro the bill came up to 71.50 euro. We left without ordering dessert. Service was fast and efficient...

I went for dinner after a local recommendation. The place was packed, but I was lucky to find a table. The service is nice and effective, food really good, up to the high standards of Basque cuisine. The cofit of red pepper in virgin olive oil was just outstanding. The monkfish with king prawn was really good, and as a dessert, I had the "torrija" (kind of creamy French toast for reference) with Bailey's cream and Cinnamon ice cream, also amazing A place I will return to...

Excellent experience at Kupela. We arrived certainly late but they agreed to serve us. You will find a small dining room (barely 10 tables), so we were lucky to make it. Traditional Basque cuisine with a few glimpses of innovation in the interpretation of some recipes gathered a familiar atmosphere.
