In a culinary escapade that swung between "yum" and "hmm," the goat dish emerged as the unexpected hero, charming the palate much like a culinary Casanova. Let's call it the "Geißli" for the Swiss 😁 a gourmet delight! On the flip side, the croquettes seemed to have taken a dive into the oil a tad too enthusiastically, coming out a bit more "slippery" than expected. And the roux? Well, it decided to go solo, separating itself in a dramatic culinary twist in some of the croquettes.
Then there were the fries - oh, the fries! They must have been on a cold strike, protesting undercooking and refusing to warm up to the occasion. But let's not dwell on the spud-sadness.
The ambiance? As friendly as a long-lost relative, and the calmness? It could rival a Zen garden with locals . Now, the wine - a simple country affair, but hey, it's wine, and it's there to cheer you up all ok.
So, come one, come all, to this culinary theatre! Try the "Geißli," a dish so delightful it might convert a vegan. And while you're at it, give a friendly nudge to those fries and croquettes - perhaps they'll be up to snuff next time. Cheers to a 4 out of 5 experience, and remember, every meal is an adventure! Read moreThis unpresuming place is a true gem, and an incredible value for money! We stopped in the town with our tour for lunch, and chose to come here instead of the recommended place. And while I can't speak for the quality of the other place, La Ratonera was absolutely delicious!!
The owner was extremely friendly and ran us through the available dishes. We ended up having some croquetas (definitely home made and very interesting, not your run-of-the-mill, flavors), octopus and fried aubergines. Everything was fantastic, but the croquetas were definitely the highlight. They were some of the best croquetas that we've had in Spain (mainland and islands).
Overall, together with some beers and and the food, it ended up costing us ~30€, which was more than fair!! A definite recommendation...
