Chiringuito Luna — Restaurant in La Línea de la Concepción

Even though this is one of the more upmarket chringuitos in the area, Luna is a bit over priced.

The wait staff are attentive and helpful, but the high prices of the dishes (when compared with some of the chiringuitos on the eastern beach) are not reflected in the quality of the ingredients nor their preparation.

We had chirlas (small clams), gambones pil pil, and tomate aliñado. My wife considered ordering the €18 starter of queso curado, the arrival of which I can only assume is preceded by the fanfare of a hundred golden trumpets, before the cheese is wheeled out atop a silver carriage flanked by trained flamingos.

The chirlas were not sandy enough to complain, but just sandy enough to not be enjoyable. The gambones were peeled, but not deveined (although this is common for the area, I would expect butterflied gambones for the price of the dish) and the oil wasn't seasoned with enough paprika or chili or salt. The tomate aliñado was good in that the tomatoes were fresh and tasty, but a lack of oil and salt in the marinade (and a little too much cumin) made sure this dish hit just wide of the mark.

C'ero già stato l'anno scorso, e devo dire che mi era piaciuto. Ma, ero con un collega, e quindi in due e ci hanno fatto accomodare, e per diverse volte. Quest'anno, mi sono presentato da solo e, salutando come da educazione, chiedo se disponibile un posto. In risposta, il signore anziano, senza rispondere al saluto e senza nemmeno chiedermi se avessi prenotato, con fare sprezzante e poco accomodante, mi invita (eufemismo) ad andar via, perché non forniscono tavolo per uno. O almeno così devo credere sia. Il mio abbigliamento, giusto farne menzione, non era dissimile a quello di altri clienti già in sala. Quindi, non mi rimane che andare via da li. Però, poco dopo, faccio chiamare da una persona qualsiasi, chiedendo prenotazione per uno, quindi, dopo aver verificato la disponibilità, dicono di si. Sarebbe stato fantastico ri-presentarsi, dicendo di essere la persona che ha chiesto la prenotazione e vedere la faccia del "signore" anziano, che una quarantina di minuti prima, con fare poco accomodante mi aveva invitato a lasciare il ristorante e di non insistere, cosa che tra l'altro non ho neanch fatto, in quanto non è mia abitudine, e perché se percepisco (pochissime volte devo dire) di non essere gradito, non ritengo dover dare attenzione a chi tale mi ritiene. Chi giudica da vari criteri che non sono nella scala della educazione, non merita attenzione, e certamente non ne avrà da me. Ora, sono curioso di leggere la risposta della direzione, essendo purtroppo consapevole che, purtroppo, le regole di questo spazio non permettono ulteriori repliche, perché i fatti da me citati sono appunto fatti, non opinioni: Negato il posto per uno; Non chiesto (prima) se avessi prenotazione; poco garbo nel dirmi di lasciare il locale; e accettazione successiva di prenotazione per uno (1) con nome a caso. Spero non si giustifichino con la balla che non avevo prenotazione, perché come già detto, non mi è stato chiesto, e circa 40 minuti dopo, a un passante qualsiasi chiesi di chiamare e chiedere per 1, ed avevano accettato. Che altro aggiungere? Naturalmente, ne io, ne i miei colleghi, metteremo piede li, almeno finché chi riceve all'ingresso non mostri un po' più garbo e affabilità.

Aggiungo modifica per commentare la risposta del proprietario: Risposta prevedibile, e dato quanto ho scritto io, e considerando che nessun punto di quanto io ho scritto è stato affrontato, direi che la risposta del proprietario, oltre che prevedibile, anche fuori luogo, nonché ridicola. Invece di prendere l'occasione per ammettere l'errore di arroganza commesso, chiedere scusa, e trarre spunto per mostrare più affabilità e umiltà in futuro, continua con l'aria di arroganza e non mostra alcun tipo di ravvedimento. Quello che ho scritto io è diverso e tanto da quanto il proprietario intende far credere. Ribadisco che non mi è stato chiesto se avessi prenotazione, e con aria sprezzante (Il "signore" anziano), mi ha detto che: "Non si preparano posti a sedere per un singolo". Non mi ha detto che non c'era disponibilità di posto asedere in generale. RIpeto ancora, che appena dettomi questo, scrutando il mio abbigliamento, che ripeto ancora una volta, non era affatto dissimile da quello di chi era già in sala, mi ha bruscamente "invitato" (Eufemismo) ad allontanarmi dall'ingresso del ristorante col tono di chi allontana un cane randagio, e ribadisco ancora che tra l'altro io non ho nemmeno insistito, sia per abitudine, sia perché visto il comportamento del tizio, avrei solo disonorato la preziosità del mio tempo, che del tempo in generale! Ora invece, risponde con tono quasi angelico, ma senza minima traccia di ravvedimento. Fatevi un bagno di umiltà e cercate di cambiare atteggiamento se vi riesce, invece di fare le risatine con ghigno verso chi vorrebbe onorare il...

Let's get it out of way, the food is ok, that's about it The service was egregious. Right from the moment we walked in we were met with bad grace, the waiter resented our presence and provided Ill mannered service. Drinks were slammed on the table and then decided he would not take our order because we must leave at 8.30, this at 7.30 when it had taken him half an hour to get back to the table. We decided to leave at that point. For a few minutes he became almost human and we stayed. Big mistake. Having no time for us he presented a wine we asked to be dry and was very sweet. Food was presented by being slammed on the table and I prefer my beer without fingers in it. This is a medium size restaurant and the three waiters did a magnificent job of avoiding looking at our table. Plates full of remnants of sardines and prawns were not changed prior to a following dish of paella. I had to go to the bar to order drinks for my table. The best bit was the bill which came with 10 percent service charge added. We refused to pay it But they took it anyway out of cash my friend unfortunately paid with.
