Xocolateria Valor — Restaurant in la Vila Joiosa / Villajoyosa

We've been to the Valor at Madrid, Alicante and Benidorm. While each are charming in its own right, and we rate the Alicante one as the best for interior decor, this Valor in Villajojoyosa is the best. It is perched on the cliff edge overlooking the beach. Go right inside and you'll get a sea view from a vantage point. The churros are the best of all 4 branches and the staff are typically super friendly and helpful. Just be aware in Valencia, churros have a different meaning. The snack originated from Madrid and churros are thinner, crisper with a star shaped cross section and looped in itself. Porus is a thick version coiled up when fried and cut into edible strips. In Valencia they only have "churros" which is a thinner version of the Madridian Porus. I’m sure the reputation precedes any review written here, rightly so! Fantastic service, accommodating and a lovely buzzing atmosphere. I do recommend arriving in the mid to late afternoon rather than evening as that’s when it gets super busy but the service is unaffected, you’ll just have to queue up for a while. Excellent churros, beautifully doughy and crisp at the same time. The hot chocolate is like dipping chocolate but some people drink it too!
