1890 La Bodeguita — Restaurant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

My partner and I recently visited 1890 La Bodeguita during our stay at the Santa Catalina hotel. We ordered the cheese platter and beef for our meal, and while the waiter did not ask how we wanted our meat cooked, he quickly rectified the mistake by bringing me a new piece of meat cooked to my liking.

We sampled a variety of wines during our meal, including cava, white wine from Lanzarote, and red wine, and were pleased with the quality of each.

While the food and drink were enjoyable, I do have to note that the overall experience fell slightly short of our expectations for a five-star establishment. The oversight of not asking how we wanted our meat cooked was a bit unprofessional, and it did detract from our enjoyment of the meal.

That being said, I would still recommend 1890 La Bodeguita for its excellent wine selection and overall quality of food. It's worth a visit if you're in the area, but perhaps temper your expectations if you're looking for a completely flawless...

Very disappointed with the food. Service was great, very friendly and hospitable but the food is actually terrible on this occasion. Included photos.

Descriptions were simple which is normal in a restaurant priced liked this but every dish is literally as simple as it says, to a fault.

Starter was three overcooked prawns, a fried egg and a head of artichoke which with the presentation made it difficult to eat.

The side salad was what you'd get served in a take away. But at 5 euros, you'd expect some dressing and some effort in presentation.

Pork loin was flat, quite dry, again needing something to lift it and at nearly 30 euros should deliver more.

Raised the issue with management who were sympathetic and listened. Would not return though.

Edit. Apparently there was a recent change of menu, and looking at previous reviews, I'd appeal that the restaurant goes to back to what they were doing before because what they have now,...

Stayed in one of Hotel Santa Catalina Las Palmas premium suites and made reservation at la bodeguita 1890 restaurant, one of the hotels restaurants, with notification 60th birthday celebration. When ordering and asking for wine recommendation to the meal ordered, the waiter make a very big and incompetent mistake. He recommends a wine with the comment « It is good, and not so expensive. I asked him for a good wine match to the ordered food, and not for a cheap wine match. End of story, I cancelled the order and ate and drank elsewhere.
