My husband and I went on a 19 day trip around all of Spain and the South of France and we still hold this restaurant at the top of all of our dining experiences. I was a bit hesitant to dine here as it was an Uber ride for us but I am so happy we decided to visit. It was upsetting this was our last restaurant before we flew to France as I would've made another reservation. One thing to know is I travel for food. I've done Michelin, Omakase and expensive meals but this sushi and dining experience was truly something special. It is a must visit. I read some reviews complaining about wait times but my rule of thumb is to always book close to opening. No one dines early so you get the whole restaurant to yourself. Our waitress was lovely and apologized for her lack of English but she couldn't have done a better job. If dining early isn't an option, I think wait time is irrelevant when the food is THIS magnificent...
We ordered the tapas version of teriyaki pork gyozas : the coconut lime soy sauce was delightful with the gyoza - it felt light and packed a punch of deliciousness! -We then got two of the toro truffle nigiri : toro was cold and everything one can wish for. Truffle and fatty tuna - you can’t go wrong. It has and always will be a winning combination. -We then had 2 scallop truffle/ponzu of shiso NIGIRI ABURI — served warm and melted in your mouth. Our eyes popped out of our heads. Our favourite bite of the night. This cannot be missed. -Next, came the spicy tuna maki roll: reminded us of Hawaii. Not overly spicy - just a bit of a kick! Fresh and light! -The salmon lime Urumaki aburi was sweet, with so much flavour. Again, melt in your mouth, absolutely stunning. We ended with the scallop and salmon ceviche that our waitress recommended: I can’t even put this bite into words. It was one of my favourite bites I’ve ever had… in my whole 33 years eating anything and everything. I couldn’t stop smiling and giggling after this bite. I think it will stay with me for eternity. It was fun to eat, visually stunning and a full on masterpiece for your palate.
We will remember this meal for a lifetime and hope to make the trek again from Canada. Keep...
Read moreWe came here as it had high reviews and was recommended by a food YouTuber. We found it pretty mediocre though there were a couple things that stood out.
We ordered the shrimp tartare with bone marrow which was delicious. It pairs well with the crackers.
The highlight was definitely the tenderloin with foie gras nigiri. I think they also have them in a roll which we would 1000% recommend getting. Those were melt in your mouth pieces!
Now the actual sushi rolls — we got the sake salmon uramaki roll as well as the spicy tuna tartare uramaki. First, they are small for the price you pay. Second, the sushi rice was not cooked properly. It was kinda falling apart and there wasn’t really any sushi rice vinegar flavour to it. The tuna one was better constructed and did taste better but the sake salmon one was just masked with some sauce. And oddly enough they also didn’t provide any ginger or wasabi to the table.
Service wise was ok. Efficient but the servers didn’t smile once and would just serve the food on the table loudly and walk away without saying much.
Overall for the price we paid, which was the most expensive meal we have had so far here in Spain, it wasn’t worth it. We are glad we were able to experience the nigiri but wasn’t worth the long walk &...
Read moreIt happens more than very rarely that I give 5 stars all over but we had too much of a good time at Misuto.
Let me try to sum this up.
First of all ... They call them a fusion restaurant so don't get upset that they get creative with traditional Asian techniques.
The quality of the scallops sashimi was out of this world. I have eaten sashimi in some of the best bars in Tokyo and the quality is right up there.
Bone marrow with scallops tartar and truffle..... The idea is brilliant and it was something new for my taste buds. I was surprised by what happened in my mouth.
And finally the oxtail dim sum. Tender and juicy packed and served with an Asian technique that surprises you. Kimchi foam? ... Bravo
Some dishes make you think ... Was that really necessary? And for sure, sometimes that dish didn't really need an egg on top but in the end I was taken on a journey with quality products and if you truly like food you will have a great time here.
Even with the lacking English skills our waitress was amazingly supportive and of a kind nature.
In my 3 days of Malaga I can only scratch the culinary surface of this city, but for sure this place will be on the...
