Read moreEl Tintero in Malaga is a beachfront institution, famed for its lively atmosphere and fresh seafood. However, my recent experience offered a mixed bag. The bustling, chaotic energy is undeniable. Inside seating, which we opted for due to a packed outdoor area, felt less vibrant. The restaurant's unique service style involves waiters parading cooked dishes around the room, with diners yelling out to claim their choices. This can be fun, but it also means limited control over what ends up on your plate. Unfortunately, our position inside meant grilled items, which looked particularly enticing, rarely made it our way. We ended up with a selection of seemingly less popular dishes, feeling a bit like we were settling for leftovers. This, coupled with the higher-than-expected price tag, left us underwhelmed with the overall value. However, there's a silver lining. Desserts and drinks were ordered traditionally, and these were delicious. So, if you crave a lively atmosphere and a gamble on your meal, El Tintero might be worth a shot. But be strategic: snag a seat by the grill for the best chance of grabbing those sizzling favourites. In short, El Tintero is an experience, but one that might not suit everyone. Be prepared for the frenetic atmosphere and a bit of a gamble on the food, but if you score a good spot and delicious grilled options, it could be a memorable (and tasty)...
Read moreWe absolutely loved El Tintero. It’s one of those places that just has its own charm and energy. The concept is really fun and different. There’s no traditional menu or ordering system. The waiters walk around with trays of freshly cooked dishes and you simply choose what you want on the spot. It’s quick, it’s exciting and honestly it makes the whole experience feel more alive and spontaneous.
We tried so many different things from the trays. The prawns were juicy and full of flavour, the grilled fish was perfectly done, the calamari was light and crispy and the seafood rice was delicious. Everything came out hot and fresh and you could taste the quality in every bite. It’s proper simple food done really well and nothing felt overcomplicated or too heavy.
The prices were surprisingly affordable especially for the amount and freshness of the seafood. At the end they just count the plates and give you the bill. Super easy and kind of fun.
The atmosphere is very local and lively with a mix of families and friends all enjoying proper food by the sea. It’s casual and a bit chaotic in the best way. Definitely one of my favourite food...
