My friend who lives in Malaga took me here when I visited. Since I am living in London I get little chances to enjoy sunny rooftop terraces, so she proudly wanted to show me the views from this one. The terrace is located on the roof of a Hotel and you can get there with a lift. There are two small areas left and right with open views on one side only and just wall of the other. The floor space is overrun by seating furniture to maximice profit leaving little space to walk around. When we arrived we luckily found a place to seat on the nice comfy white sofas located by the open side on the right area however as we were waiting for the waiter to come to order, the woman from a group of four with a baby that came with us in the lift but went to left area first, came to us as she saw us well seated and asked us to seat somewhere else because they were more people than us for that space. She made the request sounded as a command which we very politely declined as the rest of the seating options were really worse off and we knew there was plenty of space for them available in the left area where there are only tall tables and chairs (sorry tall chairs are uncomfortable for everyone) She left annoyed and little after the waiter came to say that we should move somewhere else as the sofas were for groups. We said we didn’t mind sharing the sofa area with others as we understood there were 4/5 seats more available but they refused saying it was company policy to use that wider sofa space for groups only. There were two other wider sofas spaces like that in “u”shape, one with two people and three in the other so we found the explanation and the whole situation very unfair, arbitrary but also found humiliating to be told to move whilst people around were looking at us, so we decided to go instead and as we left, without an apology, we had to hear the voice of the uneducated local woman with the baby that came from somewhere in the crowd saying in a loud and sarcastic tone “gooood bye” to top the cake. A sense of entitlement that clearly was enabled by the way the terrace decided to address the situation, as we could know understand that she probably went to rant to the waiters that we were seating there instead of them. Very embarrassing scene for me and more for my friend, who just wanted to impress me. As Spaniard, I am usually quite proud of the customer service in Spain but this place is really not at all an example. I also felt as if I had been local I would have been treated differently. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone but not only because it is small and their lack of professionalism and just money over customer care, but also because if you are a couple or two friends you will never be able to seat in the sofa area by the open side of the terrace according to their “policy”, which is really the only worthy area in the small terrace. Also apparently is a good idea to bring a few months old baby in a buggy to a cocktail bar with not food service in the evening, which at least in the U.K. is not legally allowed. There are many rooftop terraces in Malaga with far better views, facilities and friendly customer service that really know how to make people, locals or not locals, feel welcomed.
Reply to answer received: Note that the sofas were not assigned or reserved when we went as that was not what we were told by the waiter. The explanation f the waiter is that we were less people. Neither the group they sat when we were asked to move had reservation as that was the main issue. We arrived before and we were asked to move because we were two people instead of 5 like them, even when we said we didn't mind share the space. Direction would have just simply apologised instead of lying...
Read morethe service was such a disappointment from the start. we had a big table, corporate dinner, a bunch of cocktails and tapas ordered. myself and another colleague arrived a bit later, and after 20 minutes without any attention, i have asked the waiter passing by if he could take our drinks order. i have also asked for the food menu, in spanish. i was told they only have one, on the other side of the table and go get it if you want it, on a very rude tone and attitude. later on, i have nicely asked for a tonic water together with other drinks, and when i was being served, because there were many drinks i have said i also have a glass with ice and lemon. his reply: “tranquila, que no he olvidado!” again, very very rude tone. the views are nice, food decent, service terrible, slow (we have waited with the empty dishes on the table for over half an hour) and rude. definitely you don’t wanna go to a place where you are being treated like that. i don’t...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would, the only thing that gives it a star was the view. We booked months in advance for a group of 9, they made us pay €180 upfront before they would serve us (which was fine if we actually got anything for our money), we ordered a drink and waited patiently. An hour and 10 minutes later and multiple times of asking we still hadn’t received our drinks! The service and attitude of the waiters was terrible, they did nothing to help or speed up the process of receiving our drinks - and we weren’t the only table this was happening to if you were in a big group. We asked for our money back so we could leave, reluctantly they agreed and said it would take 3-5 days however, a month still waiting on the refund. Contacted and they said it’s not their problem ✌🏼 AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF IN A...
