Upon approaching the cathedral, I was immediately struck by its imposing Renaissance and Baroque façade. The intricate stonework, delicate carvings, and towering twin bell towers create a sense of majesty that is simply breathtaking. The cathedral's exterior is a harmonious blend of architectural styles, reflecting the various periods of its construction, which began in the 16th century and continued for over two centuries. Stepping inside, I was greeted by a vast interior adorned with stunning works of art and religious artifacts. The light filtering through the stained-glass windows cast vibrant hues on the marble columns, adding to the cathedral's ethereal ambiance. The central nave's soaring vaulted ceiling was an engineering marvel of its time, and it exudes a sense of celestial splendor. One of the most striking features of Málaga Cathedral is its impressive choir stalls, intricately carved with biblical scenes and figures. Breathtaking, Awe Inspiring, Gorgeous! Whether you are Catholic, Christian, or simply a history buff, this is a must-visit church in Màlaga, Spain. Outside, you can't help but feel humble yet amazed by the architecture which dominates high above the trees. We went in the Spring and noticed the beautiful orange trees casually showing fruit just outside the church. There are lovely places to sit and rest outside the church as you listen to the small fountains and watch the pigeons gratefully appreciating the supply of water. Inside...stunning.. well worth the price to enter. If you are a Christian, Catholic or otherwise, you can appreciate the painstakingly gorgeous detail which has been bestowed upon the architecture, the sculptures, and the paintings. Even if you don't speak or read the languages of the placards, you can still understand and appreciate the depictions of Jesus's messages and sacrifices. Additionally, you notice the depictions of the people along the way following the Crucifixion of Jesus and the struggles they faced as they fought and died to spread the message to a world filled with greed, hate, and unacceptance of the Devine Creator and His sacrifice. Even if you are an Atheist but appreciate art, the sculptures and paintings displayed in such a masterpiece of architecture will almost overwhelm your visual senses. This church was one of the main highlights of our trip.
