Visconti — Restaurant in Madrid

WOW! What a wonderful introduction to Spain: the Spanish omelette. Firm yet creamy and smooth, this was the highlight of the meal. A rather mild flavor, but quite appealing and reliant on gently cooked potatoes and wonderful cheese. The chorizo had some wonderful spice to give it sharpness, but I wouldn’t call it a ‘kick’—it had a lovely soft, slightly wet texture while still maintaining structure. Cafe was small and bitter—Europe does not mess around with America’s watered down past time.

Despite the chaotic nature of the indoors, this place was lovely and homey. A quaint vibe with hard-working men behind a narrow counter. Friendly, patient staff. Delightful.

Acabamos de irnos sin cenar de este bar. Hemos informado al camarero que nuestra hija tiene alergia a los frutos secos y al cacahuete y quería cenar un bocadillo. El camarero, bastante antipático y poco predispuesto a ayudar, nos informa que no tiene salchichas ni alioli, que era el bocadillo que quería nuestra hija. Le pedimos uno de tortilla de patata con tomate y bacon y nos dice que no es posible, que el bocadillo es o de tortilla de patata o bacon, que no se pueden poner esos ingredientes juntos, solo se puede añadir de extra o tomate o queso.

Al final le pedimos un bocadillo de tortilla de patata y otro de bacon, para juntarlo nosotros mismos en la mesa, y al preguntar de nuevo por alérgenos y contaminación cruzada, la respuesta ha sido que ellos no pueden garantizar que la comida esté libre de alérgenos, con un tono desafiante, añadiendo que en ningún lado pueden garantizar eso. Tras esta respuesta hemos decidido irnos, ya que podíamos poner en peligro la salud de nuestra hija. Un segundo camarero, en tono jocoso, ha empezado a darnos las gracias y a desearnos buena tarde. Por suerte, estábamos de paso y no vamos a tener que volver nunca más a este bar. Y cuidado si frecuentan este local y tienen algún tipo de intolerancia o alergia a los alimentos porque no se lo...
