We’ve moved to the island for more than two and a half years, half the time was in Manacor but it was our first time in the restaurant.
Hubby loved the pizza which wasn’t the thin kind we normally order. For me, I was very surprised to find the pasta was actually chilly which was what I was after so the overcooked pasta in the end was acceptable. The desert was not too sweet at all which we finished it in less than 5 mins btw. The waitress was very friendly and patient. All and all was fine BUT we left with a bit bitter taste in our mouths cuz the bill.
We were told by a lady we assumed is the owner that water on the island is pricey but based on all these years we live on the island, this is still surprisingly expensive. Not sure we’d return since it gave us a feeling of it’s taking the piss cuz we both...
Read moreWOW! I can’t put into words how amazing Il Bistrol was. First and foremost, the service was amazing. The owner & chef, Isabelle (I didn’t entirely catch her name but think it was close!) was so thoughtful, explanatory, and genuine. She explained the dishes that were available (pizza, pasta, and desserts) — ALL Homemade! She is from Italy, so the Italian food is absolutely authentic. Her parents were there helping her in the open kitchen, which we thought was precious.
Basil on our pizza was straight from the stem (we saw her pluck it off the live plant). The wines are affordable, food is amazing (and also affordable), and we really couldn’t have better things to say. Truly amazing. Take the extra time to get there. The atmosphere is romantic and the woman you support is amazing.
We will no doubt be back....
Read moreAs we were enjoying yet another incredible Italian meal at Il Bistrot (fka Franky's), two parents and their teenage daughter stopped in front to have a look. After a minute, they decided to move on, which made me feel sad because they were going to miss out on truly one of the best meals Mallorca has to offer. I have travelled all over Italy, and I have to say that Il Bistrot's food is on a par with any of the best casual restaurants in Italy. Their tagliatelle al pesto is incredible, as is their signature carbonara, while any of their special Piemontese pizzas (especially any with scamorza) will make you want to order another one. Don't miss the homemade Farinata as a starter, and save space for the Nutella focaccia or tiramisu for dessert. Don't walk on by! Stop, sit, and eat. You will...
