We came here because we had the feeling a Belgian restaurant would have good desserts and they did! 🥳
We had dinner in Estepona and usually Spanish desserts are a disappointment, especially the chocolate ones. So I remembered I had saved a Belgian restaurant in La Duquesa.
The service was friendly, not really efficient and fast, and other tables were waving for attention. We were seated in front of the kitchen, with very bright light, so not really cosy. Nice to see the kitchen was ran by 3 happy women!
The chocolate mousse was really good. Pretty dark and maybe a bit too firm (the fridge was maybe too cold?). The Pain Perdu was a nice surprise, brioche bread with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream, nice combo!
We’re definitely going to come back for the desserts and will come back to try more too!
The music could be a little less loud though 😉 (nope, we’re not that old 🤪😆).
And we were surprised too (like another review wrote), nobody seemed to speak (or understand) Flemish!? The women who served us spoke French...
Read moreWent with another lady for a quiet tapa on a Saturday afternoon in January. It was about one third full inside. The inside is spacious with plenty of natural light and was clean and tidy. We had a nice welcome from staff. We both had the beef carbonnade stew tapa which came with 1 slice of toast in 2 pieces. It was roughly 5 euros. I don't drink alcohol but my friend does and it was 4.50 euros per wine, red and white. I was glad I had a big mug of tea which was a bargain at 1.80 euros. We ordered a caramel crepe, 6.00 euros. It took quite a long time to arrive. So much so I had to ask if the order had been forgotten. When it did show up it was barely warm, so had obviously been waiting in the kitchen for a while before being brought to the table. My verdict? I'd return for the carbonnade as it was delicious, but the crepe was a bit...

On Sunday the 3rd November we arrived at 4:00pm there was very few people in there and they stood chatting it took them 15 minutes to bring us a beer and a wine we then ordered some food, 15 minutes later he came back over laughing and said “ I’m sorry but the kitchen it closed” as you can imagine we were less than impressed, 30 minutes out of our day to then be told we can’t eat. Unfortunately we will never visit this...
