When you walk in it looks very nice. White table setting, like shooting for fine dining. Waiters are friendly and try to be proper. But almost like holding back personality, maybe the owner wants to portray a certain vibe. WRONG, let the waiters show some personality, restaurant is a bit stiff. Menu is a bit on the higher side for this region. I had the suckling pig and my wife had a steak. We ordered the wood fired potatoes and French fries in addition to the onions and mushrooms. Before a person comes and offers you bread of various kinds. Which is 2.50 ( should be complimentary) than later they bring you a nice size portion of crackers and some meat stew. ( was good was for free) did not need the bread if I had known. My wife’s steak was good but small for the price. My suckling pig was the worst pig I ever ate!!!! It seems to have been precooked than kept cold and placed in the wood fire oven. Skin was not crackling but soft and chewy. The fat was gelatinous and the meat tasted stale. I did not finish my dish because it seemed wrong to keep eating it while my taste buds said stop. When the waiter asked I told her I did not like it. There was no reply or question. My wife wanted dessert. We had carrot cake, seemed it was from a box mix. Again overpriced food ( steak was good ) the rest was bad. Won’t be back to this place.

Wow. Just a fantastic restaurant. Both the food as the service were great! We started with the Caipirinha and they were delicious. They offered us some garlic bread and also these were delicious. There also was a little amuse-bouche that they offered. As main-course we took the mixed-grill for 2 and this is certainly a dish that I would recommend. With the mixed-grill you can taste a little of everything that they offer. We also had the entrecote that was really tender and had the right cuisson. And the escalope milanese which was also very good and more than enough. After our meal we took a Carlos primero (which ´in my eyes´ is one of the best brandy´s I've ever drunk) and a Limoncello. The portions we got were really generous. And after we asked the bill we got another complimentary Limoncello. This was most certainly one of the best restaurants we did while in Manilva!!!

Really nice outside eating area although there were a few wasps about on the evening we ate there. Nevertheless the place has a good vibe, staff were friendly and the food was really rather good. Certainly not the cheapest eating in the area, but we'll worth it for a bit of a treat. It got pretty busy at about 8pm which is a good sign, but also an indicator that you need to book to avoid disappointment. I had the fillet steak and it was a decent size and tasted good. Overall a good eating experience, we will be returning at some point in the not too distant future. Attached is not a great photo, but I hope it gives you a sense of the place.

I will never ever recommend restaurant El Estribo in Sabanillas again.

We were back at El Estribo in Sabanillas with expectations for a great meal. This time turned out to be an enormous disappointment. Firstly, the food was poorly prepared and secondly we were exposed to fraud. The chicken was bloody and the sparerib was incredibly tough. As we complained, the message from the waitress was that there was nothing they could do to give us a decent meal.

As I should pay for the meal, the bank terminal wrote a receipt stating “Invalid transaction” and the waitress asked me to try another card. I insisted to use the same card to be sure the PIN code was correct. In spite of the fact that “Duplicado” appeared in the window of the terminal, the terminal once again wrote a receipt stating “Invalid transaction”. The waitress once again asked me to try another card, but I chose to pay in cash to be allowed to leave the place.

After returning to our apartment, I checked my account and found that an amount according to the bill at El Estribo had been reserved on my account. Then I realized I had been exposed to fraud. I had paid twice for an awful meal and terrible service. I immediately returned to El Estribo and asked for refund, but they refused to return any money. The waitress gave me an email address for contact, but later I found the email address was incorrect. The last evening I was in the area I went back to El Estribo. They still refused refund, but I got a verified email address.

After returning home, I have sent several reminders to El Estribo and after six weeks they finally...

Yesterday I ate at El Estribo. I invited my friend and was looking forward to a lovely evening with delicious food What a terrible experience this was. We ordered a Chateaubriand for two, but it had a somewhat gray edge and the meat was very firm to chewy. Definitely not tender. Either the meat was cooked while it was still too cold or not cooked warm enough in the pan/oven. I've never had such a tasteless Chateaubriand in my life, and that for €35 per person. A real chef knows how to prepare a good Chateaubriand.

The accompanying sauce, the béarnaise, was simply cold and possibly from a jar, not freshly made in the kitchen. The pepper sauce also had little to no flavor. I didn't feel like making a fuss about the food in front of my friend and wife. I would have spoiled the evening even further.I did tell the server it was very mediocre, but that was obvious, as more than half the meat was returned to the kitchen. I was surprised no one of the servers asked about it further! Anyway I can't recommend anyone to eat there it's a waste of money and there are much better restaurants nearby. Day after I apologized to...
