Not saying this is all the restaurant’s fault, but I’d like other foreigners to beware of this🙂

As a tourist, I didn’t know that, in Spain the restaurant can just give you the bread that you didn’t even order and they charge you! We are not a big fan of bread, so we are not happy about this, paid for the food that we don’t like. if you are tourist this is a head up, you can just say no.

But the thing that I wanted to let people know is about when paying the bill. When I ask for the bill, they bring the POS terminal, we suppose to pay €54.xx. But for some reason on the POS terminal it shows $113.xx NZD. 【Yes, I already exchange enough euros to the card to pay for this 】

So I asked the server “Why is it in NZD not in Euro? I have euro in the card” Then he started to “play” like he doesn’t understand English, said that “I don’t know, maybe is your card…” blah blah blah. I don’t speak Spanish, plus we are a bit in rush, so I just pay it.

When I get home, I googled it, apparently there’s a thing called DCC, which charge you more money, from bad exchange rate. It is mainly caused by the restaurant’s or merchant’s card terminal.

So if you are foreigner, please...

If I could rate this 0 I really would, the staff are so rude! We were greeted by a smaller thin chap who we assume is the only to ask if we had booked we hadn't and explained that the children just wanted a drink to cool off and snack. The bar/restaurant was empty and so we couldn't understand why you would have needed to book. We were seated by a Spanish girl again who was quite rude when taking our drinks order and brought over the food menus again we explained the kids just wanted a snack and drink one wanted a slice of cake which was on the menu but when asked for she said they didn't do it. She took the kids snack orders of 2x chips and the eldest wanted to try gambas. She went over to show the staff our order and they all were laughing and looking over and the older gent who greeted us threw his hands up shaking his head and then persisted to give me dirty looks! He must have assumed the table of 5 wanted a 3 course meal even though we managed his expectations from the off set, they brought over a basket of bread which we were later also charged for without requesting, needless to say they were not tipped as they were so rude I wouldn't...

One star for really good food, one for localisation and general the place. But the staff is really rude and not polite. Waiters are kind, but there is a manager (?) I am not sure, who "gets rid of customers" who order starters or dessert. Without a word, he puts the "resered" sign on the table and walks away, as if it was obvious that he had to leave in a moment. Even though there were only 3 customers in the establishment, it happened to me twice, so it is not about traffic. The staff have a problem if you don't come for dinner. Is it so hard to walk up and say "excuse me, we have a reservation here for X hour, so I would ask you to leave your table by then"? No, it’s just about being polite and having good manners. It is a pity, because the place is nice and I would like to recommend it in the area, but places are created by people - in this case people spoil the place. Although I live close by, I prefer to go further afield but to chirunguito where they have more respect for...

So my wife wanted to know at desperately at a Chiringuito. Not many are open this one had good and poor reviews on 2 different sites. Cleanliness is not on the priority, dishes and glasses showed obvious signs of dirt or soap scum. Initially staff showed signs of interest but it decreased over time. Inside lots of flies but could be due to season. Outside seemed lovely. Food was overall good especially grilled fish and shrimps. I can recommend the shrimp and fish done over wood fire. Salad is a standard salad here in Spain other sides are additional orders. Also Mojitos lacked refinement. Instead of syrup they just added sugar grains visible in the glass. Also no lime but lemons. I have not been overwhelmed with the service here and cleanliness. Food lacks mainly good seasoning. Would I go back for food maybe but only from the wood fire and beer. Please check your bills!

This is the worst service I have ever experienced on the Costa del Sol! We arrived at the restaurant at 1 p.m. There were about 30 tables outside, all completely empty, not a single person. I said that we would like to have a beer and maybe something to eat. We were refused to sit outside. They said that soon people would be coming for lunch, so there were no available tables. But they are available now! And, for example, if all the people with reservations arrived at the same time, you could always ask us to move inside. But here they don’t look for solutions to keep a client. The waiters were unfriendly, and the manager was the same! I don’t recommend this place to anyone, it’s simply disgusting. P.S. One hour later there were still no more clients — just one table occupied. I’m attaching a video as proof

Lovely beach side seafood restaurant.. The charcole smoked fish on wood fire is fresh and very good but I am slightly disappointed by paella - It was colourful (both negra and standard seafood one) there was no ' Socarrar' in the bottom of the paella pot, the flavour of saffron could be a little more to balance the sea flavour, the moistness of rice was more and the amount of yellow coloring could be less.. The taste was good but far from perfection if you really want to eat paella in a Spanish restaurant. The rest of the food that we tried was good particularly from wood fire. Overall I will recommend it for seaside location and seafood cooked on woodfire.
