Not saying this is all the restaurant’s fault, but I’d like other foreigners to beware of this🙂
As a tourist, I didn’t know that, in Spain the restaurant can just give you the bread that you didn’t even order and they charge you! We are not a big fan of bread, so we are not happy about this, paid for the food that we don’t like. if you are tourist this is a head up, you can just say no.
But the thing that I wanted to let people know is about when paying the bill. When I ask for the bill, they bring the POS terminal, we suppose to pay €54.xx. But for some reason on the POS terminal it shows $113.xx NZD. 【Yes, I already exchange enough euros to the card to pay for this 】
So I asked the server “Why is it in NZD not in Euro? I have euro in the card” Then he started to “play” like he doesn’t understand English, said that “I don’t know, maybe is your card…” blah blah blah. I don’t speak Spanish, plus we are a bit in rush, so I just pay it.
When I get home, I googled it, apparently there’s a thing called DCC, which charge you more money, from bad exchange rate. It is mainly caused by the restaurant’s or merchant’s card terminal.
So if you are foreigner, please...
Read moreIf I could rate this 0 I really would, the staff are so rude! We were greeted by a smaller thin chap who we assume is the only to ask if we had booked we hadn't and explained that the children just wanted a drink to cool off and snack. The bar/restaurant was empty and so we couldn't understand why you would have needed to book. We were seated by a Spanish girl again who was quite rude when taking our drinks order and brought over the food menus again we explained the kids just wanted a snack and drink one wanted a slice of cake which was on the menu but when asked for she said they didn't do it. She took the kids snack orders of 2x chips and the eldest wanted to try gambas. She went over to show the staff our order and they all were laughing and looking over and the older gent who greeted us threw his hands up shaking his head and then persisted to give me dirty looks! He must have assumed the table of 5 wanted a 3 course meal even though we managed his expectations from the off set, they brought over a basket of bread which we were later also charged for without requesting, needless to say they were not tipped as they were so rude I wouldn't...
Read moreOne star for really good food, one for localisation and general the place. But the staff is really rude and not polite. Waiters are kind, but there is a manager (?) I am not sure, who "gets rid of customers" who order starters or dessert. Without a word, he puts the "resered" sign on the table and walks away, as if it was obvious that he had to leave in a moment. Even though there were only 3 customers in the establishment, it happened to me twice, so it is not about traffic. The staff have a problem if you don't come for dinner. Is it so hard to walk up and say "excuse me, we have a reservation here for X hour, so I would ask you to leave your table by then"? No, it’s just about being polite and having good manners. It is a pity, because the place is nice and I would like to recommend it in the area, but places are created by people - in this case people spoil the place. Although I live close by, I prefer to go further afield but to chirunguito where they have more respect for...
