This authentic chiringuito had become somewhat 'tired' and not one I have chosen to visit for many years. What a surprise to find it refurbished in a 'boho'/casual chic style and many smiling faces of the service team to greet us. Evidently the siblings of the former owner have taken control and turned the business into something more attractive. It is located directly on the beach with plenty of parking available (unusual). The menu del dia which we enjoyed was totally delicious. For a mere 10 Euros we ate the most delicious freshly prepared fish soup, superbly fresh Malaga boquerones followed by an amazing homemade 'flan'. Celebrated my brother-in-law's birthday and decided to give El Chiri a try. Service was prompt and provided a table outside. After wine was ordered, we proceeded to order some food, starting with 2 tuna salads, the shrimp ceviche, followed by seafood paella and grilled fish. My family enjoys healthy food options, so we appreciated that El Chiri was able to accommodate us with grilled options. We opted for vegetables instead of fried potatoes, whereas at first, the waitress didn't seem to know whether vegetables were actually available. Very rude people and very bad service! I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Despite being polite customers who were only having coffee for not even an hour, is not even busy time , we were told to leave our table — even though the restaurant was practically empty on a very empty week days ! This treatment felt very rude and unwelcoming, and we actually came to dinner very often and brought them people, especially as an old customer be treated like this! Also in a beachside location where people come to relax. We can’t eat 5 meals per day ! I won’t be returning, and I don’t recommend it to others looking for a friendly atmosphere.
