I went here last week, before restaurants were closed again, with 2 friends.I usually avoid British oriented restaurants like the plague, as the food is usually of a low 'Ready Meal' quality, but they wanted to go here, soo... After waiting about 10minutesfor a table we sat for another longer age to place our order. To be fair the place was full, as were all the other restaurants, but they seemed to coping. my friend who is the world's only chicken eating veggie decided she did not want chicken on her salad but promptly ordered chicken curry. The waiter told us there was salad or consommé . When I chose consommé I was told it had run out! Then why offer I don't eat raw tomatoes so I requested that they be omitted from my salad. You guessed it , we got 2 normal salads and one without chicken and tomatoes! No big deal; I just gave my friend the tomato. But 2 errors already. The salad itself was OK , as plain salad goes. As for the chicken I don't know what the fuss for about as it was 4 tiny croutons! She could have just left them. Next came some large mussels would have been perfect if they had been cleaned and not smothered in cheap caterers jar curry sauce. we get 'One fish and chips and 2 chicken breasts. 'No, we ordered chicken curry' 'Oh, chef has decided he not going to cook any more curry, so it is breast now!l Served with those godawful frozen fries I hate. I had only ordered the curry to avoid them! What she really meant was 'chef has used up all the 'curry sauce' on the mussels and does not want to open another jar so close to lockdown' Call me old fashioned, if something is no longer available, is it not polite to apologise for inconvenience and ask the customer what they would like instead? I don't like chicken breast in these places as it is invariably dry. I need not have worried it was more chicken carcass. Finish this off with bread pudding. I have had some exquisite bread pudding in Spanish restaurants, but this was more like play- doh! So, we had poor service, food would make the worst motorway service station ashamed and total arrogance, just dumping something we had not chosen in front of us. Seems my prejudices about these places are actually justified. I will be sticking with the Spanish in future While they were serving this junk, my favourite Spaniards were doing veal stew, roast salmon, barbecue chicken wings and oven roast pork ribs. Home made chips, dessert And coffee, for a euro less! But they had nothing for our 'veggie.' Crema de Zanhoria as a starter clearly does not count and it was the wrong bit of dead bird to be classified as flora! Interesting experience but not one I will be...
Read moreDespite speaking in Spanish the receptionist spoke in English which I find rude. I asked waiter to speak in Spanish which was well received then given a different waiter who decided to speak in English despite us trying to speak Spanish. No menu provided had to think for ourselves and read a menu from our mobile phones. Failed to listen to our order rolling his eyes and paying no attention to us. Got it wrong by failing to be attentive bringing out the wrong food despite pointing to it on the phone menu as well as ordering in Spanish. Starters were not finished when the main meal was plonked on the table. The grilled cuttlefish was not grilled enough to call it grilled, tasteless and half inedible. Portion sizes a joke with literally 6 chips with the burger and steaks. Fork taken away and not returned had to ask for replacement. No complimentary bread that every other table had. Sadly we had similar poor service and meal a few years ago with my mother who is actually Spanish and should never have returned tonight. Our fault but was hungry and tired so thought naively it may be better. Sadly not and I wish we had stuck to our instinct and avoided. Beware small portions of chips, incorrect orders and rude service. €170 not well spent and feeling totally robbed. Could have been a lovely meal as the setting alongside the marina is beautiful however the overwhelming stench of boat diesel really added to the whole poor experience. ADVICE is AVOID and don't waste your time or...
Read moreThis is not a knee jerk review, thought for a few days about this.
Have eaten there for four or five years, the service I received the other day was dreadful. Went there with a party of seven, 5 adults & 2 children, had to wait ages for the menu and the drinks where a long time coming. Two of my party didn't get their starters - had to re-order them, then some main courses came before the staters - everything was in disarray. Other tables where receiving a much quicker service. When I started to complain staff had no answers although where apologetic, however no manager came to our table. In all seven people served our table which is a sign of poor organisation, at the end i was given two separate bills at the same time??? Staff only took off the bill one starter that came late. I think overall service was very poor considering the restaurant wasn't busy, I got the impresion that staff couldn't cope, or maybe didn't want a large? So it will be a long time before I'll consider eating there again. On the up side the food was of good quality....
