Really sad to say that this venue has gone massively downhill. We have been coming to La Cala for over 10 years multiple times per year as we have a holiday home here. Whilst we know this isn’t the most upmarket place in La Cala, it’s attracting the wrong king of people. We visited last night to be sat next to, what we presume was, a mother and her young daughter who could have been no older than 13. The daughter was drinking what looked liked alcoholic cocktails - they may not have been but we can be certain the child was doing tequila rose shots as we heard the mother order 2 from the waitress serving the table and then give one to the child. We obviously understand that the waitress didn’t know what the guest intended to do with the shots - and of course it’s not up to the venue to police peoples choices for their children but when she came to take the shot glasses away and one was clearly with the mother and one with the child.. something should have been done (a quick review of the cctv?) You do have to consider, that the people coming here for the last 10 years have helped build the business up and this kind of behaviour will put off loyal 10+...
Read moreAn Irish corner in La Cala de Mijas with a Mediterranean ambience surrounded. We had a great breakfast! My husband ordered a delicious Irish breakfast and he couldn't finish it, big portion. Mine was just perfect! 😀 Thursday to Saturday nights they have live music, we went for some drinks and the ambience became very enjoyable. The group playing is very interesting and unic, the mandolin player makes his mandolin sounds as an electric guitar, the percussion player has a "all in one" box with so many accessories that plays with metal pieces he puts in his fingers and the guitar player and the Canadian singer has a beautiful voice. They keep the ambience very happy making you sing well known songs all night long. The service is excellent as well! Great experience! Looking forward to go back in...

But what is wrong with the owner that each order has to be paid immediately? A paranoid person could interpret this as an incredible offence that the owner supposes all clients are thieves and run away.
Update: Came to watch a game and asked for the menu card. The friendly waiter told me the kitchen is closed. I was quite surprised and told her it's 19:30.
She told me that it's an Irish pub and I replied we are in Spain. The kitchen closes at 17:00 - so funny, but it's true
And, the other day I came at 21:20 and I was very irritated to hear that the coffee isn't served after 21:00.
Really, the owner is a very special person applying strange rules based on weird...
