Having lived in la Cala de Mijas for 5 years this was my first visit to this restaurant. I must say I have an excellent evening. The serving staff were polite and efficient. They spoke to us in Spanish you you got the feeling of being in a proper Spanish restaurant but could speak English if you were struggling to understand. The food was excellent I had a pate to star which was wrapped in a light pastry I have never seen this anywhere before but it was delicious, for my main I had steak with a jacket potato. I asked for medium well being aware that in Spain meat tends to be undercooked, but it was perfect. I then finished my meal with a lovely chocolate cheese cake, one of our party of 4 chose apple strudel which I must say looked great. The bill for the 4 of us included drinks and coffee was 136 euro, about 23 euro each which for the quality and the ambience and service I though was reasonable value for money. I have eaten at cheaper and at more expensive restaurants in the area but I would definitely recomend El Cortillo and I will...
Read moreThis restaurant is simply the best in La Cala. We are a group of golfers (20) who stay for the week in January, we all go and eat here albeit not at once and I personally would eat there every night but as the food is so rich and plentiful I have to fight the urge not to. As for the rest of the group not one of us have ever had a bad meal and we’ve had everything on the menu in the 20yrs we’ve been going to La Cala. Disregard the negative comments on here they’re just nitpicking, once you go I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. A family run business Dani and Christina make you more than welcome so trust me if you don’t go then you’ll never know what I’m talking about, my motto is people don’t go back for bad food. PS booking...
Read moreThis restaurant was always full when we passed so we felt it best to make a reservation, which I would recommend. The food was excellent and well presented. Only downside for me was I ordered their special on Sea Bass cooked in Cava and got a salmon dish. I did say it to the waitress, she checked her order and confirmed she had infact ordered the salmon dish; she then asked 'do you not like it', as I had started to eat it I said it was ok. She made no apology and promptly left. We did not see her for the rest of the evening. I didn't push having it changed nor did they offer I felt they could have apologised and perhaps offered us a glass of wine...
