Chiringuito Royal Beach Pirata — Restaurant in Mijas

If I had the option to give ‘0’ starts I would…I do NOT recommend under any circumstance coming here for two things. The quality of food and more importantly the service. We’re threatened with calling the police in case of no payment when only complaining for these two things!!!

We ordered 3 main dishes from which the first one was a 30€ worth piece of steak (sauce not even included)..Chewy, extremely under quality and was far from medium. We can say the this steak was not done from the written type of meet.

The second dish was a white fish which was supposed to be in a lemonish gravy. This was far from any lemon, it swam in olive oil, nothing else. Had no taste and was overcooked.

The third dish was a chicken skewers. It was served on enorm amount of fries and two small pieces of skewers. The chicken was dry and not well seasoned. Non of the dishes had any decoration, was tossed on the plates, as you would have prepared it home.

The food was just one thing, but the quality of service took everything…

It started with forgetting one of our dishes and when I asked about it, the waiter tried to convince me that I did not order only 2 main dishes and btw it will be ready in 5 minutes meanwhile he was almost laying on our table.

When I asked for the bill and started listing the problems, the other waitress tried to call me ‘darling’ (while again almost laying on the table) 5 times even though I expressly asked him not to do so. They do not speak a word of English AT ALL, which resulted in me starting to list our problems with the quality of food and service 5 times as all the waiters were called to our table with the hope to understand us. During the ‘conversation’ they tried to make me/us feel little and ‘pushed down’ not offering any solution for the problem. All the waiters were EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful.

The next thing was that the owner turned up with an unacceptable attitude, disrespectfulness and rudeness. The cherry on top was his reaction to our complain, he threatened us calling the police in case we stand up without paying. He admitted that he genuinely do not care about the feedback of their costumers, even though he stated that he’s in the hospitality business for 37 years!!!

Moral of the story, DO NOT GO THERE, shitty food and service, they try to humiliate you and DO NOT OFFER ANY SOLUTIONS in case of...

Firstly I would like to say that the service here was great, the staff did their best to look after you and were very attentive of the customers. If there was any let down it was primarily because of the basics, the food was served on cold plates meaning that the meals didn't stay warm for long which was a let down and the dishes ordered came out at different times, we had to ask for the butter after ordering bread and butter and there were no condiments on the tables. Overall the food was good but just lacked a few touches to elevate it to its best level, for instance the swordfish on the menu said with potatoes and fresh vegetables where as I had one small potato and a handful of veg. For 17€ this plate should have been full of lovely boiled potatoes and a variety of veg, the chicken skewers were two skewers on a plate of oven fries, no side salad or pita bread just to bring it up to that next level. Quality products and great Chef! We had an excellent food experience at Royal beach (Piratas). Our reservation was for the terraze, although it was a bit windy, it is nice and spacious. But the food! Worth going every time! I do recommend the 'ensalada de langostinos' ,'Boquerones al limon', very tasty and well presented. Our main dish was a Sole 'lenguado con Cava', delicious.
