A somewhat disappointing experience, for what was my husband's birthday. My husband ordered garlic chilli prawns for starters. When the dish came, the plate looked rather sparse, but my husband was engrossed in shelling the 5 prawns. It was only later, when he had pretty much finished the dish, he realised it should have been served with crusty bread. I pointed this out to the waiter, whose response was ' you should have told me sooner'. I'm of the opinion that the waiter and/or chef should have noticed this when plating up and delivering the dish to our table and the onus should not be on the customer to spot their mistakes. Afterall, there were only a few choices of starters, so the staff should be very familiar with how the finished article should look. He added further, that it's a small kitchen and these mistakes are sometimes made. The relevance of kitchen size is totally beyond my comprehension!! At €12.50 for this starter, remembering to plate the full dish does seem particularly important. Fortunately, my husband enjoyed his main course of beef in red wine. Unfortunately, my main, fish and chips, was not great. Overcooked batter, burnt in places, leaving a bitter aftertaste and slimy fish was not particularly palatable. We sat for quite a while after the main course and the waiter didn't ask if we were wanting dessert, so we decided to call it quits. I paid a visit to the ladies toilets during our visit to the restaurant. There was a sign respectfully requesting that paper is not to be flushed in the toilet. I totally respect that request, but if one is expected to use a bin for paper, please provide a bin that has a usable foot pedal, as I had to lift the lid of this broken bin with my hands, which is not acceptable. I cannot comment on the gents, as that facility wasn't used on our visit. There is an abundance of restaurants to choose from in Mojacar and this one really needs to up it's game, if they are to remain successful in this...
