We were looking for some where to share a last night dinner with my Daughter and her Boyfriend before they few back to the UK so we walked around the Pueblo and chose Rincon De Zahori (as it says on the Receipt0 because it was the highest point and had spectacular views of the surrounding country and the sun set.
Because it's so high it is obviously exposed and we found it was too windy to sit right on the Top Terrace, so we came down one and the waiter put a couple of tables together for us just outside the bar.
The view was spectacular but it was still windy and the stable door behind my daughter's head was held in place by a piece of string. In the wind it was straining to slam shut and my Daughter's head was in its path, so we had to move the tables, just in case.
The menu was quite good though primarily this is a Pizza Restaurant, there was enough other options to satisfy all of us.
My Daughter and her Boyfriend had the Gamba's Pil-Pil which was a selection of large prawns cooked in a garlic and chilli sauce. They looked and smelt delicious. My daughter is still a bit squeamish about prawns so it was great to see they had already been removed from their shells with just the heads left on.
This was a good size portion more than enough for 2 at €14.
Then the main course.
The youngsters had Pizza.
One Diavola (€10) and one Barbacoa (€10.50).
These were nice big Pizza's served on a wooden platter. Thin crust but a bit lacking in flavour and there seemed to be a shortage of cheese? We had to ask for Mayonnaise and the waitress love her had to go outside to find a sachet. These Pizza's would have benefitted from some chilli oil and a good slice of Chorizo sausage instead of the wafer thin offerings they delivered.
The Boyfriend ate all of his but my daughter was beaten and had to leave a few slices.
My partner was far more adventurous and went for the Cone Jo Dijon. (€11). Rabbit cooked in Dijon Mustard. It came with a pile of thick cut chips and a large seared Pepper (the non hot variety).
As is often the case with Rabbit there were loads of small bones and at the end she had a pile of Debris on her plate. It was, she admitted 'too salty' for her taste. But we must concede at this point, we never use salt in our cooking so it was probably perfectly acceptable to most people.
I went for the Espaguetti Thai . Thai style Spaghetti with Chicken. (€12).
Basically it was like chicken Noodles except they had poured a whole bottle of Soy Sauce over it, so everything was dark brown, almost Black and tasted of nothing but Soy Sauce, which is in itself very salty.
However, I found a large bottle of Sweet Chilli sauce on the shelf in the bar, so I plastered it all over my meal and it masked the taste of soy sufficiently to make it edible.
We had a bottle of House white at €13 plus a bottle of water which brought our total bill to €72.
So, on balance the food was, I'm sorry to say, a bit disappointing.
On the plus side, the staff were very friendly, very helpful. the venue was unusual and the view, which is after all what we were paying a 'premium' for, was spectacular.
The starter (Prawn Pil-Pil) was the best bit, very good if a bit dear.
Sadly the mains were lacking in any flavour other than Salt.
Sorry I couldn't be...
Wait for a surprise: cuando entras dentro, TIENEN SOBRECITOS DE COLACAO. PAM.
Read moreWe didn’t have a reservation and it was late on a Saturday night, they found a table for us quickly and we got really good service although it was super busy. We waited maybe a little longer but it was completely understandable and they really pulled out the stops to accommodate us. The food was worth the wait. Our server was Yvonne, she was really funny and sweet practicing Spanish with my boyfriend and she went out of her way yo take photos for us too. Food was delicious, cocktails were tasty and the views over Mojacor...
