This is a bit of a long one so if you’re debating on coming here and spending good money.. give this a read.
My partner and I have been here a few times and him and his family have been here numerous times over the years.
I’d like to start off with the fantastic two waiters we had (Lucas and Rauhl) absolutely fantastic and a credit to this restaurant. No complaints about these two at all they are brilliant.
As for the manager he needs some serious training in customer service or a different career which is not dealing with the public.
We cane on the 10/06/25 on the night of the Robbie Williams tribute act which was fantastic. It was my partner and I and we had to pay 5 euro each for the table ( more than happy to pay this for an outside table and as we were at the gatsby which pride themselves in the experience and being a fancy dinner) all started well with good starters. After we had our starters it was 1 hour and 20 minutes till we got our mains, we had no problem with this it was a very busy night. I had a carbonara and my partner had the waygu burger, his food was fine however my carbonara was stone cold. We let the waiter know who offered to reheat or recook, as my partner already had his food and the menu states the pasta takes 30 minutes as it is all FRESH, also we waited a long time for food I said I’ll have it reheated no problem. By the time it had been reheated my partner had almost finished his food. We asked the waiter if this can be discounted or taken off the menu as paying full price for reheated pasta from a higher end restaurant who prides them self in fresh pasta he apologised and was brilliant and said he’ll speak to the manager.
The manager sent the waiter back and the manager said if you don’t want to pay you don’t eat it. We felt this was shocking so we asked to speak to the manager who then came over and kept saying if you don’t want to pay you don’t eat it, suggested he will recook it but at this point again my partner had eaten his food and I didn’t want to wait as already waited 1 hour 20 mins for this, we explained that said we appreciated it but he was adamant of us paying full price for reheated pasta. I said I won’t have it then and he took it away.
My partner then asked can we have any compensation for this as I had gone without dinner, after back and forth the manager agreed to two free desserts which we were happy to settle for. Got our desserts went inside to pay the bill.
BUT THEN to our surprise the bill had one of our promised free desserts on, we queried this to the manager said he only offered one free dessert and we must pay. We explained he said we can both have it on the house, he was adamant only the one and we must pay. I explained why would we agree to spend more money here after that horrible experience, we took the free desserts as it was supposed to be a good will gesture. He was refusing for over 10 minutes to take that dessert off the bill but we were standing on our point as it’s principle at the end of the day I had gone dinner less and was told to pay full price for reheated pasta or go without.
Eventually after what felt like forever he agreed and said he’ll take off the other dessert but said now his staff will be the ones paying for it and he will NEVER do it again. We said don’t worry we won’t be back! paid our bill thanked them for finally sticking with their word and wished them a good night.
Take with this as you please but if the manager had apologised for the situation and offered the reheated pasta for free or anything complimentary all would’ve been fine. But this man seriously needs some classes in customer service I’m so shocked how he...
Read moreWe visited Rumours by Gatsby tonight. We sat inside rather than outside. We were the only people inside to start with. The restraunt is beautifully presented. The ceiling is definitely has the WOW factor. We started with a couple of cocktails, I had a strawberry daiquiri and hubby had a mojito, very nice to. For starters we had 4 oysters, 2 natural and 2 with pomegranate, beautiful. Very nicely presented. Hubby ordered steak tartar, a sample was brought to him to make sure it was seasoned to his taste , he said it was stunning, I'm vegetarian so I can't confirm that. For mains I has Strips of Turbot with crispy turbot skin with possibly the best tartar sauce. Hubby had Lobster risotto (Massive portion) a whole lobster sat on top of the risotto. Extremely flavorsome. We had a side of house salad, (the dressing was too strong) and a side of vegetable chips, these were actually crisps NOT chip. No room for dessert. Read moreI had by far the worst experience ever in a restaurant. Had such high hopes as the facade of the restaurant was beautiful although I and others were a bit skeptical as it was really quiet. Payed €80 for a steak that was advertised as 1.1kg however when it turned up the majority of the weight was made up of fat and T bone which is not the ribi we had ordered. As well as this, someone else who we was dining with us ordered the lamb that was also made up of majority fat and got a few bites out of it. When we queried this with the waiter he was reluctant to do anything as his manager made it clear that any money lost they would have to make up for it. After going back and forth with asking to speak to the manager, who was being avoidant, the night ended with the manager who was not present, calling the police demanding us to pay full price for the steak which goes against consumers rights, causing the kids to be very distressed.
